Title: Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture
Creator/Studio: SNK/Wombat
Distributor(s): Urban Video
Genre: Superhero
Running Time: 1 hour, 40 minutes
Summary: Professional fighters Terry Bogard, his brother Andy Bogard, his sister-in-law Mai, and his friend Joe help a girl named Sulia, who has healing powers. Sulia is being pursued by her evil brother, who is looking for the Armor of the Gods. The Armor of the Gods is a magical armor that gives its wearer immense power. Can Terry and his friends stop Sulia’s brother before it’s too late?
The Good: Lots of action here. Terry Bogard is an admirable character that’s hard not to root for.
The Bad: The story may be difficult to follow if you’ve never played the video games it’s based on.
Offensive Material: The violence is graphic, but it is stressed that the heroes are only defending themselves. Also, at one point Terry is unconscious after a heavy battle. Although she’s afraid her healing powers will not be able to take the strain, Sulia heals him by taking off most of her clothes and laying on top of him. The nudity seems unnecessary since it’s been revealed earlier that she only needs to touch someone to heal, so why does she have to go full nude? Are the animators this lonely?
Overall: This movie is okay. It’s good for a rainy day, but there are better ones out there. If you’re familiar with the Fatal Fury games, you may like it.
My Review (out of 4): 2.5
Note: This movie is the third in three movies based on the mildly popular SNK fighting game series Fatal Fury. Studio Wombat also created Colorful
