Title: Gundam Seed Destiny
Genre: Sci-fi
Creator/Studio: Yoshiyuki Tomino/Sunrise
Company: Bandai
DVD Info: 51 episodes, 1+ volumes
Summary: Two years have passed since the events described in the original Gundam SeeD, which chronicled the war between the Earth Alliance and ZAFT. The war was ended with the signing of the Junius Treaty, banning further Mobile Suit development--or so everyone thought. But ZAFT has secretly violated the treaty with three prototypes: Abyss, Chaos, and Gaia. Now these prototypes have been stolen and history is threatening to repeat itself.
The Good: The show starts off with a great transition. The new Mobile Suits look great, especially the Chaos Gundam. It's great to see old faces like Athrun Zola, Cagalli, Kira Yamato (albeit MIA for much of this series), and Yzak Jule (who's now resolved his grudge with Kira and has finally removed that ugly scar, thankfully.) The new developments, like the new Mobile Suits and the clone of Lacus Clyne, are quite intriguing. I like the new opening theme by High and Mighty Color, "Pride." Oh, and if you subtitle fans out there miss seeing Miguel Aiman, don't fret--his Japanese VA, J-pop star Takanori Nishikawa (a.k.a T.M. Revolution), is back as a new character, Heine Westenfluss.
The Bad: The series assumes you've watched the original Gundam SeeD. (Which isn't entirely "bad", but something to keep in mind, nevertheless.
Offensive Material: Genetic engineering is used to make the Coordinators. There is some nudity in the opening theme. There's also the typical robot-smashing and some blood.
Overall: This is shaping up to be a great sequel. (I'm watching fansubs to make this review, but they change nothing)
My Review: 4.0 Category: B
Comment: Gundam SeeD Destiny is a sequel to the original Gundam SeeD, a spinoff of Mobile Suit Gundam. Del Rey publishes manga based on both series. Other Gundam spinoffs include G Gundam, Gundam Wing, and the underrated parody series SD Gundam Force. Yoshiyuki Tomino also created Aura Battler Dunbineand Brain Powered.
