Title: Hikaru No Go
Genre: Fantasy
Creator/Studio: Yumi Totto/Pierrot
DVD Info: 75 episodes, 4+volumes
Company: Viz
Summary: Hikaru Shindo finds a Go (a centuries-old Japanese board game) board possessed by Fujiwari no Sai, an ancient Go master. Sai bonds with Hikaru and teaches him how to play the game.
The Good: Believe it or not, the premise of this show actually works. Not only that, it's actually entertaining. Sai and Hikaru have an amusing friendship, especially with the "culture shock" Sai is going through.
The Bad: It seems somewhat childish.
Offensive Material: Sai is a ghost.
Overall: This is the kind of show that doesn't seem like it'd work, but it does. But I'm starting to wonder if a show about Shoji (Japanese chess) is on the horizon.
My Review: 3.5 Category: A
