Movie: Castle In the Sky

Genre: Historical fiction/Fantasy Creator: Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghilbi

Distributors: Disney/

Running Time: 2 hours, 5 minutes

Summary: Set during the Industrial Revolution, this anime tells the story of a girl name Sheeta,(voice of Anna Paquin) who has a magical amulet. Because of the amulet, she has been targeted by a power-mad general named Mitsuka (voice of Mark Hammil) and a group of air pirates led by a woman named Dora (voice of Cloris Leachman). She meets a boy named Pazu (voice of James Van Derbeek), who agrees to help her because he recognizes that the amulet comes from the fabled city of Laputa, which his father was searching for.

The Good: A great story and a beautiful film to watch.

The Bad: It’s kind of slow at times, but not too bad.

Offensive Material: There is some magic, but very little. There’s not much violence in this movie, but there are some scary moments.

Overall: Like all of Hayao Miyazaki’s movies, this is a beautiful piece of art that also entertains. Children will love this movie, and so will adults.
