Title: Only Yesterday

Genre: Drama

Creator/Studio: Hotaru Otomo and Yuko Tone/Studio Ghibli

Company: Buena Vista

DVD Info: 1 hour, 58 minutes

Summary: A female office-worker reminisces about her childhood growing up in Tokyo.

The Good: Like Whisper of the Heart, this movie seems like it could be live-action. I also like how the story goes back and forth between her past and her present and how it links the two together.

The Bad: Because the story is only subtitled, children will need good reading skills. The story could probably bore young children.

Offensive Material: There's a short bath scene in which the protaganist is naked, but that's it.

Overall: I find that I enjoy Ghibli's quieter pieces less than their more action-packed ones. However, this "portrait"-style story still has the charm that Ghibli has always had, and I still recommend it.

My review: 3.5
