Title: Pokemon: the First Movie
Genre: Fantasy/Comedy
Creator: Satoshi Tajiri
Company: 4Kids/Warner Bros.
DVD Info: 1 hour, 15 minutes
Summary: A genetically-engineered Pokemon named Mewtwo invites several Pokemon trainers to a private tournament. What they don't realize is that Mewtwo really has something else up his sleeve: he wants to take all their Pokemon and use them for world conquest.
The Good: If your kids love Pokemon, they'll probably enjoy this movie. It has a great storyline and funny moments.
The Bad: The opening short spends way too much time having the Pokemon clown around by filling up the screen between scenes.
Offensive Material: Light violence. Mewtwo was genetically engineered. Pokemon also has a bad reputation thanks to fundamentalists.
Overall: This is a great companion to the Pokemon series. Although I'm not that heavily into Pokemon, I did enjoy it.
My Review(out of 4): 3.0 Category: A (all ages)
Note: This is one of at least five movies. There are several video games, comics, a trading card game, and a TV series as well.
