Title: Pokemon 3: Spell of the Unknown

Genre: Fantasy/Comedy

Creator: Satoshi Tajiri

Company: 4Kids/Warner Bros.

DVD Info: 1 hour, 33 minutes

Summary: A scientist's daughter and Ash's mother are kidnapped by Pokemon called Unknowns. The Unknowns have psychic powers and use them to manipulate their captives. Can Ash and his pals save them?

The Good: The reason I watch the Pokemon movies instead of the actual show is that they're usually better at telling a story. This one's no exception. It's full of laughs and fun. And for once, the opening short doesn't have Pokemon clowning around!

The Bad: Unless you're a Pokemon fan, you may not enjoy this. (Many jaded otakus consider Pokemon a "sell-out").

Offensive Material: Light violence and usage of magic. The Pokemon franchise could use a good PR team.

Overall: This is the best Pokemon movie so far. Perhaps there's hope for the franchise after all.

My Review: 4.0 Category: A (All Ages)

Note: This is one of at least five Pokemon movies. There's also a TV series, card game, comics, and several video games.
