Genre: Superhero

Company: Manga
DVD Info: 1 hour, 31 minutes
Summary: The evil Dr. Sadler is holding a tournament to steal the "Dark Hado". Ryu, Ken, and several other characters from the Street Fighter games must stop him. The anime takes the plot of the game, sort of. (no M. Bison, but you do get to see bad old Akuma)
The Good: My first thought was "Why did we screw up? This was great!" The best part was that they added in a kid named Shun, who's Ryo's little brother. It's so cool watching this kid try so hard to be like Ryo because it also allows the viewer to see what motivates Ryu. My favorite scene was when Ryo gave Shun his headband and said "Whenever I tie this on, I ask myself, 'Am I worthy of this fight?
The Bad: Evil Ryu (who's basically Ryu in black with Akuma's powers) shows up, turning Ryu in a "Jekyll and Hyde" character. Look, if you're gonna show his dark side, fine. But don't bring out the clone characters. They're so lame! Also, you might not like the fact that they don't have a character you like in the story (even cameoes of some of the Alpha characters show up). As long as you don't keep asking "Where's Blanka? Where's E. Honda?", that won't bother you. They really should've toned down the violence, because the this isn't Mortal Kombat.
Offensive Material: The violence isn't on the same level as the game. It's way more intense and graphic. For example, one character gets a hole blown through him. In the games, people just get knocked down (although some of them do show a shot of the loser all beat up and the winner walking off) The "dark hado" is an evil force that keeps taking over people, making them fight and fight, no matter what happens. There's also a character named Rose who keeps giving Ryu cryptic prophecies and tosses tarot cards before and after she leaves. This didn't bother me because she was also encouraging Ryu to keep fighting and not succumb to evil.
Overall: This is so much better than that stupid one we made. If you like the Street Fighter games, you will definitely enjoy this.
My review: 2.5 Category: C=Caution (Not appropriate for those under 13)
Comment: Capcom also makes the Megaman games. Sunrise is the studio behind Inuyasha and all those Gundam cartoons.
