Title: Wolf's Rain

Genre: Horror/Fantasy

Creators: Keiko Nobumoto and Toshihiro Kawamoto/Bones

Company: Bandai/Sunrise

DVD Info: 30 episodes, 7 DVD's

Summary: In a post-apocalyptic future, wolves can actually blend in with human society. Legends say wolves know the way to paradise. Can the legends be true?

The Good: The story's intriguing, with great character development. Great music from Yoko Kanno.

The Bad: It's kind of slow.

Offensive Material: The wolves in this anime can become human, similar to werewolves (they just aren't as feral). Some magic and mild language. Mildly graphic violence, particularly when the wolves fight.

Overall: This is pretty interesting. Get ready for a long, but enjoyable, haul.

My Rating (out of 4)3.5 Category: C (Caution. Not recommended for those under age 12.)

Note: Keiko Nobumoto and Toshihiro Kawamoto also worked on Cowboy Bebop. Kawamoto was also the character designer on Mobile Suit Gundam: The 8th MS Team. Wolf's Rain was abruptly put on hiatus during the SARS outbreak, but the DVD series will have four new episodes that pick up where the series left off. The series was directed by Tensai Okumura, who also directed the "Stink Bomb" episode of Memories. Viz has started publishing a manga based on the series.
