Title:Yu Yu Hakusho Ghost Files
Genre:Horror/Superhero
Creator/Studio:Yoshihiro Tagashi/Pierrot
Company: FUNimation
DVD Info:112 episodes +1 movie, 22+ volumes
Summary:Yusuke Urameshi was once his junior high's most notorious delinquent. But one day, he sacrified himself to save a boy from being hit by a car. Because he died before he was supposed to, he is sent back to the living as a "spirit detective", in order to protect us from the evil forces of the spirit world.
The Good:Lots of action and fun. Yusuke is a smart-aleck who's also got a good heart. All the heroes are great and the story is reasonably paced.
The Bad:Cartoon Network is only able to play the first half of the series. FUNimation isn't letting them air the whole thing because of editing issues. Luckily, the company is still selling videos that go beyond Cartoon Network's coverage.
Offensive Material:Magic and the occult are primary elements. The series is mildly violent, but does not get graphic.
Overall:This is DragonballmeetsGhostbusters. If only Cartoon Network could actually air the entire series.
My Review:3.0Age Rating: B (Borderline. Parental Guidance suggested.)
Note:This series is based on the manga published by Viz and is a regular feature in Viz's Shonen Jump anthology series. A video game has been released for the Game Boy Advance. A movie called Yu Yu Hakusho: Poltergeist Report is also available from Manga Video. Other Pierrot Studio titles include Naruto, Key the Metal Idol, and Urusei Yatsura.
