Title: Azumanga Daioh

Creator: Kiyohiko Azuma

Genre: Comedy

Company: ADV

Publisher Info: 4 volumes, authentic format

Summary: Meet Class 1-3, just your average broup of high-school girls. There's Chiyo (way too young), Tomo (Ritalin poster child), Ayumo (easily distracted transfer student), Kagura (athletic nutcase), Kaori (has her head in the stars), Yomi (Tomo's best friend), and Sakaki (all she wants is a pet). And let's not forget the faculty: Mr. Kimura (lecherous principal), Ms. Kurosawa (popular PE teacher), and Ms. Tanizaki (extremely tempermental English teacher). The story is done in a "comic strip" style. The Good: This school is so typical, you'll swear you've met students like these. There's laughter throughout the book.

The Bad: There's no "story" linking these strips, so that may seem awkward.

Offensive Material: Some light bad language and off-color humor. Mr. Kimura's lecherous ways are quite harmless.

Overall:Azumanga Daioh is very funny and definitely worth a look. If you like school sitcoms like Saved By the Bell, I recommend this series.

My Review: 3.0 (Out of 4)

Category: C (Caution. Not for those under 12.

Note: Azumanga Daioh is also available from ADV as an anime. Kiyohiko Azuma also created Yotsuba&!.
