Title: Oh! My Goddess

Genre: Fantasy/Comedy

Creator: Kosuke Fujishima

Publisher: Dark Horse/Studio Proteus--106+ issues, 20+ volumes

Summary: Keiichi Morisato is a college student who accidentally dialed a wrong number, summoning the goddess Belldandy. Belldandy helps him anyway, and afterwards he wishes for her to stay with him forever, so she does. Joining them are her two beautiful sisters, Urd (somewhat beautiful, but very naughty) and Skuld (very smart, but bratty). Also in the cast are Banpei (a robot created by Skuld) and Sigel (a mechanical doll brought to life by Skuld).

The Good: The story is very funny and Fujishima's artwork is nice to look at. You don't have to worry about jumping in late because the inside front cover fills you in.

The Bad: The stories often go by too fast, even though they're usually five parts long.

Offensive Material: Belldandy and her sisters are based on the Nords of Norse mythology. Urd has been known to strike seductive poses. The goddesses use magic on occasion.

Overall: If you're new to anime or manga, this is a great one to start with. In fact, many otakus I've met online cited it as the first manga they ever read.

My Review: 4.0 Category: B (Borderline)

Note: AnimEigo also collects DVD's based on this series. Kosuke Fujishima also created You're Under Arrest, Ex-Driver the Movie and the PS2 game Tales of Symphonia. He was also the character designer for the Sakura Taisen games. Media Blasters carries the second TV series.
