Title: Please Save My Earth

Genre: Drama/Fantasy

Creator: Saki Hiwatari

Publisher: Viz--16+ volumes

Summary: Alice is a seemingly normal girl living in Tokyo. What few people realize is that Alice actually has a bond with nature. One day, Alice is asked to babysit bratty Rin, a little boy who gives her no end of grief. As she spends time with him, she comes to realize that he's really not as unkind as he appears. But tragedy strikes--he almost dies when he falls off a banister. When Rin recovers, he's changed. He now believes he met Alice in another life. Alice also meets two boys who also claim to have had dreams that are their past lives. Is there more to this than what she sees?

The Good: The story is reminiscent of Judy Blume, but with a nice twist. The cast is very likeable, and the artwork is very nice.

The Bad: The series is really meant for female audiences, so it's a bit on the mushy side. If you don't like that, I wouldn't recommend it.

Offensive Material: Rin has a pretty foul mouth at times. The story also has reincarnation in it. The two boys I mentioned seem to have a homosexual relationship, but that's not really the case.

Overall: This is quite an intriguing story. If you like dramatic stories, this is one to check out.

My Review: 3.5 Category: C (Caution. Teens only)

Note: Viz also has an OVA based on this series. CMX also publishes another manga by Hiwatari called Tower of the Future.
