THE REASON BEING THAT WHILST THE PHOTO WAS BEING TAKEN, WE HAD PUT MEDICAL STAFF'S LIVES AT RISK

Some lucky beggers,who drew the short straw, actually got to sail home with the Royal Navy on HMS Ark Royal.Those were the last Soldiers off ADEN -- YES THEY WERE ROCKS OF 37F SQDN CATTERICK

			1967 >>> ADEN... Due to my elite training they deemed that I should go and fight for Lizzie Queen of England and other places against the foreign foe.(F.L.O.S.Y) Front for the liberation of south yemen.loved the escort patrols down to Steamer Point, the endless perimeter Guards, the sweet early morning smell crossing the causeway.AAHH! Sweet Memories, Billeted in the Old married quarters,we had our own Dhobi wallas, and a runner gofer for fresh sandwiches,and that bloody nusience of a Monkey.Our enemies taking a dislike to our C42 radio on one trip through a village on route from khormaksar, shot it to pieces.A shiny clearing his SMG into the ground via an inch off my left ear. John(Jock) Sherry my mentor getting me over the fence to a MPBW Party in their quarters.......(My finest hour, was helping another Rock switch the knife rests round at Checkpoint Charlie, and omitting to tell the yemeny officer who sped through early mornin on his motorbike) definately another book here.. And contrary to popular belief it was ROCKAPES that were guarding the ITN film crew, who were filming the Suposidly last british soldier off Aden soil...."ROCKAPES FIRST IN LAST OUT" & never reported.

	You're right about the car coats and the ties, we had to buy them just for the journey home. We left Aden wearing combat gear and stopped at an RAF Station in the Middle East, can't remember the name, where we had to change into civvies with the usual ' No jeans and wear Ties, order. Ken C.
