My Neova II Hovercraft Restoration
This is my Neova 2 hovercraft it is a Two seater twin fan powered by a Volkswagon engine. It was designed in Australia in mid 70's I bought it as is, I have since had the motor rebuilt with new cylinders and heads as I siezed and bent a valve when I tried to start it. The craft is fitted with Reversing buckets as seen below when you pull the T handle backwards the revering buckets come downwards to cover the ducts this diverts the air forwards to slow or reverse the Hover. Moving the Handles left and right turns the rudders for steering you can also reverse one Bucket at a time for tight turning. I still need to refit the engine and repair the chain drive system to the fans. The skirt system on this Hover is very strange on the undersise 6 Jupes are fitted they are short rubber pipes that feed and contain the air under the Hover these are fed through the internal side bags in the hover. Then the perimeter of the craft has a plain curtain or straight skirt that keeps the air under the hover this skirt is held in place by thin ropes running under the craft attached to the bottom of the skirt. Unfortunately I have been dragging the chain on this project for far to long.
What the Neova should look like with an engine bay cowl and front deck fitted.
The T handle steering with left right forward backwards movement it can also be moved from the middle of the craft for one or two up driving.
