The love for rodeo I have in my heart and feel through my soul has changed my life forever. It amazes me how much we all take things around us for granted. Like, before I started riding bulls, I would see a bull, but never connected with the magnificent animal and never let it into my soul. I never gave the animal the courtesy of a second glance or thought, until I climbed on the back of one for the first time. It was that day that changed my whole perception and respect for this great animal. To some that ride it is no more than just an ego trip and one persons attempt at trying to overpower and "beat" an animal. To me riding is so much more than just a fight to come out on top, so to speak. I have gained a higher respect for the bulls who allow me the opportunity to work as a team with. Riders would not be what they are if it were'nt for the great bulls of rodeo and what they contribute. It is this fact that causes me to respect the bull and recognize them as an 8 second partner. The connection I feel between a bull and myself can be sumed up in two short words, A TEAM. It never has been and never will be just a sport to me. I feel blessed and it is an honor to me every time I have the opportunity to dance with a bull. So, this is one of my ways of honoring the bulls and their spirit's by offering them recognition that they most definately deserve and have earned.
I also want to thank all the stock contractors out there, for with out you gettin' the bulls to us, we would not be able to have this great experience in the first place! So thank you and my God protect you always on your travels to and from rodeos.
"The World's Most Dangerous Bull"
(Died on May 16, 2000)
Originanlly known as J31, this 2000lb. "Yellow Whale", was a Charbray Bull cross breed mix between a Charolis/Braham.
Known for his bone crushing, head snapping moves and heart wrenching verticle bucks, this great bull gave a thrilling and challenging bucking performance history of 135.
Bodacious continually struck fear into the hearts of pro rodeo cowboys around the world. Immediately throwing the majority of courageous cowboys to the ground without mercy and causing life threatening injuries to others who dared to ride, "The master of Disaster." Bodacious repeatedly awed fans and riders alike.
Bodacious was named Bucking Bull of the Year at the NFR in 1992, 1994 and 1995. Bo' was named Top Bucking Bull of the Year by the PRCA in 1994 and 1995.
In 1995, owners Sammy and Carolyn Andrews decided to retire the grand bull, "In the interest of cowboy safety." In 1999 Bodacious was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
** On May 16, 2000 Bodacious died of kidney failure in his holding pen at the Andrews Rodeo Company Ranch and was buried nearby.
