George Harrison 2/25/43 - 11/29/01
HISTORY
I have always been a Beatles fan and George Harrison was always my favorite Beatle.  The first George Harrison Wake came to pass when I sat down to eat lunch the day after George Harrison's death and began watching the constant coverage of George's life and music on television.  This was before I quit drinking, so as they kept playing his music I kept drinking.  By the time Catherine got home I was "in the cups" and in the mood to commiserate with friends.  By luck or fate, several of them were free that night, so the George Harrison Wake took place with about a dozen people in attendance. George Harrison music was listened to, George's and The Beatles' influence was discussed, jokes were told, and a good time was had by all.  We had such a good time, I decided to do it every year.
The 4th annual George Harrison Wake is in the history books now.  It occurred December 4, 2004.  It was attended by a special group of 14 people.  I smoked a brisket, people brought baked beans, cole slaw, cheese,  and we had lots of finger foods.   We visited, ate, drank, played pool, watched the OU game and generally had a great time.  If you didn't make it this year, put it on your calendar for next year.
