In the realm of electronic music, various kinds of hardware exist to produce the music that is played throughout the world. The electronic process in some way affects all produced modern music. This is done through the usual recording process, or through actually modifying and enhancing music through both the hardware and software made for such purposes. Various kinds of filters and effects can be done to music sequences to form new sounds and styles. These innovations are constantly featured in today's popular music and can be identified by the trained ear. The hardware involved with electronic music has become a large part of music production. Since the introduction of new forms of music technology, they have influenced and helped in both perfecting and revolutionizing music through time. Advancements in this technology have helped in both perfecting and revolutionizing music and producing whole new forms of musical experience. It has also established the styles of music enjoyed today and has led to new ways of listening and enjoying music. One of the most influential pieces of hardware created for music production is the drum machine, also called the rhythm machine. It has been used throughout the 1960s, 70s, and 80s and has helped produce the music that has become the foundation for today's modern music. The drum machine continues to be used throughout the musical genres to help make the music of our time and influencing the sounds of future generations of musical styles.
