Formatting Your Autoresponder Messages For Best Results
Your theme-based topical content ranks high at the Search Engines, attracting free,
targeted
TRAFFIC... interested, open-to-you visitors.
Simply writing an effective autoresponder series isn't the whole story.
To be the most effective, autoresponders also need to be formatted and laid out correctly.
personalization but don't overdo it so it looks fake and forced. If you know the prospect's name, use it.
Use numerous small paragraphs - just like on this website - 2 to 5 lines long rather than great long chunks of text. It looks more inviting and is easier to read. Just like using bullets, underlines etc.
Include details of how/where the prospect joined the series. You'd be surprised at the number of people who write to complain they never subscribed if you don't use this message.
Include clear, precise information on exactly how to unsubscribe should they want to. Hiding the information won't help you sell more - it'll simply infuriate your already disinterested prospects
Use an attention grabbing subject line - like the headline on a sales letter. If you can, use the prospect's name - then either offer a benefit your prospects will be interested in, or simply intrigue them so much they absolutely have to open it just to find out more. But don't use lots of capitals or exclamation marks. Here are a few examples of good headlines:
John: Here's the Successful Detecting interview you requested
Sarah: Where did you get to last night?
Barry, I really need to get this off my chest
Richard will you be part of this test?
Jenny - Here's how I lost 3kg in just 9 days
Write the email as though you're emailing a single, good friend rather than thousands of people you've never met before.
"Dear Jim,
I hope you're enjoying the summer weather at the moment - I know I certainly am.
Infact last Saturday while out detecting I had one of my most exciting finds in years..."
Use first names whenever possible "Dear John" not "Dear Mr. Smith" unless your business requires it
Format all messages to be just 60 characters wide. As all email software shows a different line width, using lines just 60 characters long prevents your emails from appearing poorly formatted
Try to break up the email using bullet points, underlines and subheads
If you're referring to a website you are hoping prospects will visit, include the link literally through the email. You never know
when
you might have said enough to convince them to visit.
In addition include the hyperlink on a separate line all of it's own, and include an AOL hyperlink. When you write a website address such as http://www.Absolutely-Free-Autoresponders.com including the http:// this will become a clickable link when the email arrives in your subsciber's inbox. Rather than open up their browser and type the address in, they just click it and are taken straight to the page.
However in AOL a typical link like the above would not be "clickable". Do this by including the HTML Click Here command.
