Township: SereneCove of Kingdom Manon
Age before the War: 42 After being set free: 142 but looks 16 Gender: Female Element: Water Position: Helm of Water Position in Family: Daughter of a Pearl Diver Birth Season: Mur 7 Skills: ocean swimming/diving, pearl harvesting, sea sense, weatherwatching, basic self defense (dagger), teaching/training, Psychopharmacology, Advanced Medicine/Surgery (emphasis on the brain and nervous system) Magicks: All of the student and apprentice level Water magicks, Elemental Call, Dream Weaving, and Mind Control Family Father: Balomon Qedeshet (dead) Mother: Aphra Qedeshet (dead) Siblings: Kamryn Qedeshet (sister, dead), Irinor Qedeshet (brother, dead), Llilyth and Lleah Qedeshet (twin sisters, dead) Lovers: A select few in the past Lifemates: none Friends: All the Helms; is quite fond and protective of her students General Appearance for this new body Hair Color: Raven Black with a blue-violet sheen to it Hair Style: Cascading waves that fall to her hips; she usually keeps it bound in ribbon from her shoulder blades to her middle back and off her face with a lovely silver headpiece decorated with black pearls (a gift from her mother after she attained the rank of Mage), however a few wisps inevitable escape around her temples. Eyes: a clear aqua blue-green like a tropical lagoon Physical Description: Somewhat shorter than she had been before becoming Mirror Struck, she is now around 5'6" and quite curvaceous though not in an overblown, flowsy kind of way. She misses the lithe gracefulness of her previous body, though, and has been spending more time in the water to strengthen and tone her new frame. She would HATE to give up her swimming and diving activities. She tends to favor very sensual fabrics-silks in warm weather, kashmiri wools and furs in winter-in shapes that flatter her curves and suggest flowing water in hues of violet, aqua, teal, blue, etc. Personality: Very serene and compassionate, Marianath enjoys the role of revered elder. She is the epitome of the term "Reverend Mother"-warm-hearted, patient, wise, and firm. Though she is not big on histrionic theatrics, her own deeply passionate nature gives her a tolerance for those whose dispositions are more tempestuous. It would take much more than the vast majority of people are capable of to push her far enough past her limits to unleash the "stormy sea" in the depths of her personality. However, despite all her "Mother Mary" qualities she is extremely intelligent, capable of focusing that intellect and wit with surgical precision, and not to be trifled with. Likes: The complex beauty of the ocean, jewelry (and other artistic expressions), dancing, diving/swimming, and teaching Dislikes: ignorance, prejudice and action based on that, callous treatment of others, and willful pollution of the natural world (water systems in particular) Fears: being trapped again, losing control of herself and harming another needlessly, losing a patient |

Brief History: Marianath was born the eldest of five children. Her
mother was a renowned pearl diver and her father was a fisherman in the
port town of Blue Pearl. Though not wealthy by any means, her mother's
skills were highly sought and thus the family was never in want of
anything. However, the extended hours required of both her parents'
vocations often left Marianath alone with her siblings for days-even weeks-on
end, cultivating her motherly characteristics early on. One day at age
13, while accompanying her mother on a dive, she saw her mother knocked
against a rocky formation by a strong undercurrent. Without thinking,
though she was exceeding her capacity to hold her breath, Marianath
pushed herself to reach her mother and bring her body to the surface.
Towing her mother's limp body to shore, the desperate Marianath worked to resuscitate her. When her mother came to, she noted that her eldest daughter looked at her with eyes the color of a clear lagoon, where before they had been a warm brown like her own. Marianath hated the thought of leaving the womb of her close-knit family, but agreed to go to Silinis Isle to begin her mage training in the hope of benefiting them when she became a Mage. Marianath proved to be an outstanding student with a seemingly endless well of compassion. She loved tutoring others and helping in general; and advanced rapidly in her magickal studies. It is presumed that her lifestyle prior to her talent surfacing-living so close to the ocean and spending so much time steeped in its lore (not to mention its waters) may have contributed to the speed with which she gained the rank of Mage. However, being a child of experience, she left the Isle for a time, preferring to apply her education in the real world. After some time she returned, her experience grounding her and giving her a remarkable and unshakable central calm. She then advanced from Master Mage to Helm, finding a niche as teacher, mentor, and counselor. She was incredibly saddened by the damage wrought upon the world by the Dark Mages and devastated when her entire family paid the ultimate price for defending their home from the encroaching evil. The dam hidden deep within her soul broke, and she gladly joined her magick with that of her fellow Helms, unleashing the fury of Water upon the Dark Ones and helping to banish them. When those she had helped to victory then turned upon her and her peers in ignorant hatred and fear, Marianath knew a deeper level of sadness; it was partly because she was so hurt by this betrayal that she did not fight her own entrapment, wishing towithdraw from the world and its pain for...she did not know for how long. Not wanting for any of her fellows to be harmed further, Marianath pled with Gardric and the others to join her, hoping that in the future, time would have healed the world's wounds-and her own. Released 100 years later, she is still trying to adjust to the differences in the world and herself; still, she is deeply committed to teaching the next generation of mages. Bond Information: Name: Serenity Type Undine; guardian of Serene Cove Appearance: graceful and feminine, she takes whatever shape pleases her most in true Undine fashion, but typically she prefers soft watery colors for her skin/scales, eyes, and hair. Personality: Serenity is usually quite calm, a reflection of the nature of the Cove itself. She is somewhat elusive to any but Marianath, and she has a broad mischievous streak, often playing little pranks on unsuspecting fisherfolk, divers, sailors, etc., that venture into her protected waters. If offended however (such as by threats to her Cove, it's inhabitants, or Marianath herself), Serenity is prone to violence, up to and including causing the offender to drown slowly fromthe inside out. |
