WHITE-CRESTED KALIJ LOPHURA LEUCOMELANA HAMILTONI WESTERN HIMALAYA

A not very popular pheasant in the Lophura family because of his lack of striking colors, this wonderful pheasant surprises many with his display and courtship song.  The lack of color is why these birds are not very popular but when you look and study them you notice the crest seems to have hair instead of feathers, much purpleish and blue-black feathers through-out the body with striped feathers on the breast.  The hen is more of a pale brown, with a crest of hair, and blackish-brown feathers with white tips.  These are very hardy and easy to raise birds that never give the keeper any problems.  Incubation time 24-25 days.
