July 4th Weekend 2002
Our plans this year were pretty modest - a trip to Sodus Bay for the weekend.  We planned to arrive at the boat Wednesday night, then take off early Thursday morning.

First order of business was to replace the air conditioner sea water pump on the Lady Jane.  What a pain in the $%&!   I was wrenching that thing until 11 pm in a 90 degree bilge.  But we were successful, and our A/C is once again in working order.

We awoke on Thursday at about 7 am to clear skies and calm water.   We had a nice run to Sodus, about 37 miles which took us around 2 hours.  We arrived at Katlyn Marina around 9:30 am.  Great prices on fuel there this year, we paid $1.79 per gallon for 93 Octane.

Our friends Jean and Dave met us later in the day, and we also enjoyed the company of my sister Eileen, her husband Chris, and kids Jamie and Leah. My brother Jeff, step-mother Sue and her friend Gene were also at the Marina.

Around  7 pm, a small sailing ship pulled in across from us. It was the St. Lawrence II out of Kingston Ontario.  Aboard were 30+ kids of various ages, all spending a week aboard learning to sail the 55 ft boat.

The rest of our weekend was spent relaxing and enjoying the company of good friends and cold beer.   We spend one more night at Katlyn before trying to leave on Saturday.  Unfortunately, 2-4 foot waves on the lake forced us to turn around and head back.  Just not very comfortable taking them bow first.   Saturday night we spent at anchor, used our new Honda generator.  What a great investment.  43 lbs, 2000 watts and it'll run 5-10 hours on a single gallon of gas.    Try
Mayberrys.com if you want to buy one.  We paid $859 including shipping.

We left Sodus for Braddocks on Sunday morning at about 7 am.  Lake was a bit choppy, mostly 1-3 footers with an occaisional 4.  We traveled with Kaleen and about 2 miles behind us was Blondie, a 24' Glastron from our marina.   Pulled into port at around 9:30, no problems - another great holiday aboard the Lady Jane.
