After reading in the NME at time of booking these tickets that Razorlight were the support band I was a little surprised that a band called The Apartment were on instead. My friend (a Jimmy obsessive!) who had been the previous night too assured us they weren't worth seeing & were just Interpol wannabe's so I can't comment on them at all.

Jimmy Eat World themselves came on at 9.15 & played for around an hour & a quarter which isn't very long for a headline act but never the less I don't think anybody could have felt cheated by it. They put on a great show with a fantastic mix of new & old stuff. There were the obvious tracks from Bleed America & Futures for the less hardcore fans (me!) & the older, lesser known tracks for the real fans (my friend!). The thing I always find with this band though is even if you've never heard one of their songs before you feel like you do by the end of it, they're so catchy. If I was being
really picky I could say only playing 4 tracks from their latest album was a little strange but I'm not going to be picky!

Started off a little shakey I felt by the opening song being Kill. Cool song but not really a punchy show opener, however it soon picked up from there. The real "everybody goes mad & surges forward" moment probably happened about halfway through with If You Don't, Don't which was also my highlight of the set. Other highlights for me were the 2 songs before the encore - A Praise Chorus & Pain, aswell as the encore itself. Didn't really know the first track For Me This Is Heaven but the fans did & the atmosphere through it was fantastic, then proceeeding into crowd pleaser Get It Faster before closing on Sweetness.

Got into a good position by side of the stage near the front just before they arrived on & could see perfectly until the encore when Lurch from the Addams Family decided to stand in front & some teenage boy puked in front of me (all I did was smile!!). By that time
Dead Kittens (from the message board) had sent me a rambling text saying she was "in fringeil water trying to see" (roughly translated to mean she was slumped in the bar drunk as a Lord - that will teach her to eat more during the day!), so I had to go & find her just as my favourite song Sweetness came on. Arse! (Sounded good from the bar though!)

All round a good show, shame the band don't speak more between songs & they're not exactly wild to watch but their faultless songs & instant likeability (is that a word?) more than made up for that.

7 out of 10

(due to my ignorance for not knowing enough songs)
