| I first became aware of the Kaiser Chiefs after hearing I Predict A Riot. I actually thought it must have been some rare track off the special edition of London Calling. What a fool I was though - no in fact they are instead one of the most promising British bands for years. This album is fantastic! If I had the money I would buy everybody in the world a copy! There is not one bad track on it. It ooozes imagination, originality, humour, truth & is catchier than a cold in an enclosed space with no windows! I read in a review for the single Oh My God that it sounded like Gary Numan with guitars which I could understand. However, although they display certain similaries to other bands (Clash as I mentioned, Supergrass being another) they have a fresh sound which is totally their own doing. Each song is very different from the stonking (& surely future single) Everyday I Love You Less & Less to the punk I Predict A riot, the melodic You Can Have It All, straight to the silly yet brilliant Born To Be A Dancer & the good old cockney knees up chorus of What Did I Ever Give You (I know they're actually from up North before anybody points that out to me!) I will now be left with the sadness & regret of not booking tickets for their tour quick enough but I have comfort knowing, not only will they will be huge for years to come, but Ebay have some on sale - all is not lost! I mean with lyrics such as "we are birds of a feather & you can be the fat one" who could fail to love this band? 10 out of 10 Best tracks - I Predict A Riot, Oh My God, Born To Be A Dancer, Saturday Night |
