This was the last night of four sold out shows & when you consider they had removed all the seats downstairs in the arena that is a lot of people to sell out to!

The support act were !!!. Yep, they are called !!!. If you think pronouncing that is difficult try working in a record store & having to find a place to file it. After the bit of their set I caught tonight I think the bin would be the best place, but my friend liked them so you will find them at the start of rock/pop (my advice would be to look further & go for ABC, Adam & The Ants & if worse came to worse even Paula Abdul rather than try them out).

I digress however as this is a Chilis review! I've liked them for years but for one reason or other have never seen them live.

They started off perfectly with one of their best songs Can't Stop & the fantastic single Dani California from the  latest album. I was slightly worried they would play too many tracks off that, especially since it's a double album. However, on the whole they managed to mix "old" & new well together. I say "old" as thankfully they're not stupid & know most people were here for Californication era onwards so they dare only include a couple pre that (the two classics from Blood Sugar Sex Magic - both being the encore pieces).

I had heard live recordings of Anthony singing & always thought he sounded a bit off. He did tonight too! Ironically on the whole he sang perfectly but it was the "rapping" parts that he sounded out of breath in. Mind you given the age & energy he still wiped the floor with a lot of bands I've seen. The band thmselves were faultless.

Highlights were Can't Stop, Dani California, Tell Me Baby, Californication, By The Way, Under The Bridge, Give It Away. Other than the songs themselves visually it was pretty amazing. The lights & screens (even a couple suspended from the ceiling!) were fantastic.

It's a shame the evening ended on not so much a whimper but a "what the f***?" with a ridiculous jamming session on the end of Give It Away. People didn't know what the hell was going on & it was terrible. Other than that top notch!
