Seether if you don't know are a South African rock band who have made it big in America but still  have a reasonably small following over here. The singer is linked to Amy Lee from Evanescence who duetted with them on their most well known track Broken.

I went to the gig with my loud & crazy South African friend & her sister. Due to her loud craziness I managed to find myself being allowed by the security guard to stand just in front of the barrier with a fantastic view. Hooray!

I'm jumping ahead of myself now though. Firstly we remained in the bar whilst the support band were on watching over the balcony. They were People In Planes who I've never heard of but have since tracked down a CD of & highly recommend. I think they could really fly off the shelf - get it? FLY off the shelves?! *hangs head* sorry!  Seriously, a promising new band so please check out their website:

We moved downstairs for Seether themselves & they kicked off with the brilliant Gasoline. They played for over 90 minutes which I was very impressed by. I'm more into the first album as I felt they skirted far too dangerously into sounding like Creed during the second! They played a mixture of both & even a Nirvana cover (Drain You) which was surprisingly good.

Of course most of the gig I was distracted by the fact that my friend thought Amy Lee was standing 2 feet away from us. After staring at the poor girl throughout & occasionally shouting Amy we discovered afterwards that nope, it wasn't her at all! Would have been a good story though, as it is it's a pointless one but hey!

Highlights for me were Gasoline, Needles, Diseased, Broken (great audience sing-a-long. I'm surprised the fire alarms didn't go off with all those lighters aloft!) & show closer Remedy. Not forgetting the nice gestures of raising a glass to John Lennon & Dimebag, who were both shot 25 years & a year ago on that day respectively.
