After hearing various different bands being rumoured to be the support acts tonight it turned out none were correct.

First on were Swedish band The Perishers. I'd never heard of them though someone had been raving on to my friend the previous day about them so after we finished sending friendly gloating texts to her (she turned down offer to Snow Patrol gig) we enjoyed their set very much!! They were absolutely brilliant & one of the best support bands I've ever seen. Really mellow but catchy at the same time. Think they could do very well indeed!

Next band were The Ghears. Again, a band I'd not heard of before. They were a bit like Tenacious D in that he had the mannerisms & ridiculous showmanship of Jack Black but looked like the other bloke in the band! Very silly indeed though I fear they might not know this. However, I should imagine they heard us roar with laughter when he dramaitcally threw himself to the floor during one song! Songs themselves were okay, I'm all for ott rock but they would have been better suited supporting Judas Priest (at least then the crowd would have ripped them to pieces unlike the polite audience Snow Patrol attracts!)

So, onto the reason I went in the first place - Snow Patrol. They burst out after some pretty cool lighting & sci-fi type music filled the stage (you really had to be there!) kicking off with Wow, then going into a stonking version of Gleaming Auction.

They stuck mainly to the latest album Final Straw which was a good thing as I don't own the earlier two & judging by the trips to the bar & toilet during older songs I don't think many others do too!

Gary was on top form & was very chatty & witty between songs, explaining at one point that his jeans had started falling down & he had to hold them up with his guitar!

Highlights for me were the brilliant Somewhere A Clock Is Ticking (my favourite track of theirs), Ways & Means, naturally the anthem that is Run & show closer Tiny Little Fractures.

Basically, all songs from Final Straw were outstanding tonight as were the ones I wasn't as familar with. Garys voice did falter on occassion but it didn't really matter, they still gave a top class show. I'd definately see them again.
