She Said "Yes"
The Unlikely Martyrdom of
Cassie Bernall
Misty Bernall
Many people often feel like they cannot go on living.  The story of Cassie Bernall is of just that.  Cassie felt like she could not go on living, until she found that something that made her want to live; she finally had a purpose in life.  This purpose was God; and ironically enough, she died for God.

I will always remember the story of the young martyr of Littleton, Colorado.  Her story will help me to realize that life truly is only a few breaths away, possibly only one word away.  I think that it is only a few breaths away, possibly only one word away.  I think that it is important for anybody that has read, or heard of, this story to remember the life of Cassie.

Cassie’s story helps some people to ponder the question “what is important in life?”  For Cassie, and me, it is living for God and gaining His happiness that is important in life.

Cassie was on a very bad path a few years before her death.  She was threatening to kill her parents along with herself.  Cassie could not answer the question of the importance to life, but Cassie’s lifestyle soon changed.  Her parents enforced some rules and took her away from the “friends” of hers that really were only being horrible influences on her.  With the help of her parents and new peers, Cassie changed and got to know God; and with knowing Him, she was much happier and wanted to continue living, she had found the importance of life.

I believe that Cassie’s story is, in one way, out there to allow people to know that there can be a reason for living; whether it be for God, or something else.  Earth can be a happy and wonderful place, you just have to find yourself and find something to live for.

Another thing about Cassie’s story is how she stood so strongly, for what she believed.  Everybody on Earth needs to remember to stand up for his or her beliefs just like she did.  You need not to be afraid of what others will think or do, but be strong and express your opinions and beliefs whenever the opportunity comes up.

It is very important to remember the life of Cassie.  She found a meaning to lie, and even died for that meaning, and she stood up for what she believed in.  Her story should help others to realize that little petty things are not the importance of life; it is the bigger things such as love and family that are important.  In remembering Cassie it may help one to remember the importance of life and how one should stand up for their beliefs; it is better to die telling the truth than to live a lie.
