Love's Wings
Through all my lonely and desolate time--
When the silv'ry mists of melancholy
Obscure sightless orbs, mine eyes without rhyme,
As I plod through dark halls lacking jolly

In my heart's sight is mirrored thine image
(Such beauty and undoubted perfection!)
And sight longs to recapture thy visage--
That sole object, my only affection.

And that soul takes flight, on wings of a dove
In remembrance of moments so long pass'd;
Yet jovial welcome greets them, my love--
Such times as we've spent will evermore last.

Thus, when sadness pierces me, as a dart,
Thou art my protection, shield of my heart.
