| ALONZO CABELL BECKNER Alonzo Cabell Beckner was my grandfather, and the son of George and Teressa "Mills" Beckner, born April,4,1886 in Franklin Co. Virginia. He married Lucy Emma Stump Aug.14,1904.. I never knew him. My father said that he was a man that a lot of people feared, including his own family. He was a bully-type person..When my dad, "William" was about nine years old, "Alonzo" his Dad , disappeared.. They say he got up from the supper table to go to the garden to get a tomato, and never returned. [Wheres Maulder When you need him?] It happened in the 1920s. As far as I know Alonzo has never been seen since. After talking to some relatives , some think that Alonzo left and went to Ohio and changed his name to Brown. Others think that he was killed. None of us know for sure.. There is a story in the family about one of Alonzo's brothers that was murdered on a ridge. But know one is sure which one it was. But all agree that he was "waylaid " so our parents and grandparents tell us. The story is that some one threw a rock and hit him in the head. My father told this story when I waa little, but I dont recall which of his uncles he said it was. *********************************************************************** CHILDREN OF ALONZO AND LUCY BECKNER Harry Alfred Beckner-1905-1982 Robert Erie Beckner- 1909- died when hit by a train in the 1930s Stanford Horton Beckner- B.Fe.. 18, 1910- D.
