Cartie "Johnson" Blankenship was born in 1904 in McDowell County West Virginia. She was the daughter of Green Johnson and Mary "Phillips" Johnson. In abt. 1922 she married Paris Blankenship, son of Alfred and Nancy Blankenship. They lived on Knox Creek in Buchanan Co. Va. They had six children. In the 1930s Cartie left Paris and came to back to McDowell County. She did housework for famlies in the Iaeger area and worked at the Bus Terminal and raised her children alone. She never married again. |
