Ollie Mullins married Archie Horn February 9, 1885 in McDowell Co. West Virginia. She was the daughter of Riley and Elizabeth "Ingle" Mullins. She was born in Wise County Virginia, in about 1854. Her marriage record states that she is 25 . But according to census she was a bit older than that. Archie was only 22 when they married , so I suppose even women back then kept their age a secret. Ollie already had four children before she married Archie. Bill Mullins was her first husband. She is listed in the 1880 Wise County Va. census with her three children and she is a widow. So apparently Bill died young. I have not been able to find any records of this marriage. Margaret, Wallace, and Sarah were the children of Bill and Ollie Mullins. Ollie had another son named Edmond. He was borned after 1880, and in the 1900 Buchanan County Census he is listed with Archie and Ollie, as Archie's adopted son.
From the information I can get Archie and Ollie lived on State Line Ridge in the early 1900s. He owned a mill. they had several children .They are listed in the 1920 Buchanan County census, and their children are all married by then. I have no information as to when they died. I believe they may be buried on Compton Ridge in the little cemetery behind the Flatwood Church. Several of their children are buried there. Including my husbands grandmother Margaret "Mullins" Church, daughter of Ollie. |
