Rosencrantz and Guilderstern

Rosencrantz and Guilderstern were old school friend of Hamlet?s. In the play Rosencrantz and Guilderstern were called upon by the King to spy on Hamlet and find the reasons why he was acting the way he was, and if they found the reasons they would be rewarded like kings. So they decide to do it, betraying their friends trust in doing so. Throughout the play they constantly play Hamlet for their advantage or like Hamlet said, ? You would play upon me.? They are both liars and deceivers. The fact that they would turn in their friend for money and riches, especially when his life is at stake shows how serpent -like they actually were. When the King asks Rosencrantz and Guilderstern to take Hamlet to England so he can be put to his death and the Kings hands would be clean, they agree without questioning the situation, just so they will get rewarded for their services. The fact that wealth is more important than life to them is sickening. How can someone value money over someone else?s life? Obviously Rosencrantz and Guilderstern could answer the question, but the English on their arrival to England killed them. Hamlet got them back for all their trickery they laid upon him by using some trickery of his own. They got what they deserved; they were greedy and only cared for their own skin. A friend like that isn?t a friend. Rosencrantz and Guilderstern were horrible people, people that today are feared and ignored because of their behavior and their lack of sympathy towards others.
