CHRISTMAS IN HOLLAND | ||||||||||||
Being on the other side of the world can make Christmas a lonely time but luckily Loz's cousin Lou is living in The Hague with her partner Nathan and their 8 month old son Oscar. Now, for the record, it is a mutual consensus that this little kid is one of the cutest and well behaved we've ever seen. Our time there was made always brighter by his presence. We set out Christmas Eve for The Hague and arrived to find everyone in great spirits for the upcoming celebrations. A few welcome drinks and a some catching up was all we could manage before bedding down in expectation of the following day. |

Christmas day was a blast! Oscar received more presents than Santa could reasonably fit in a sack and the rest of us shared some great presents between us. It was then "priceless" to watch Oscar enjoying the wrapping paper more. A lazy day of plenty of beer for the fellas and oohing and ahhing for the girls followed. When the appropriate hour came, we all sat down for a fantastic vegetarian Christmas dinner with some fantastic vino and even home made Christmas crackers. The boys stayed up late into the night making sure the beer fairy wouldn't be upset any bottles were still full. The following day saw plenty of Oscar attention and he lapped it up. We got out and about, checking out the local forrest walks, the town including the Dutch Royal Palace, and sitting down to some great meals. All the time Oscar being a perfect little gentleman. We had a lazy day travelling home via Eindhoven on the 27th, leaving us 2 days to prepare for our New Year assualt on the Northern Lights in Norway. What a fantastic christmas, a big thanks to Lou, Nathan, and Oscar for making us feel so welcome! |
