VIETNAM
We flew into Hanoi to meet Lozza's parents, a few days late, but very happy to be there. In the mean time they had organised a tour of Halong Bay, a magic Wolrd Heritage area of  north Vietnam. Before we arrived, Alan and Judy had been up north to see Sapa, a hillstation and get a little trecking in, which they really enjoyed.

Sailing through these mountains as they jut out of the sea was terrific. Especially as we were on an old "junk" decked out to carry tourists, we had nice cabins, amazing scenery and even good food. Whilst kayaking together around some of the mountains, we mangaed to find a cave to kayak through leading into an isolated bay straight out of a movie!

We had another day to explore one of the bigger islands and then it was back to Hanoi where we walked the streets and marvelled at the way of life here.

A short flight to Saigon and we were settled into the heat and mayhem of the  south nicely. We didn't stay in the city too long as the lure of a beach was too tempting.

We headed up the coast for about 5 hours to Mu Nei and found ourselves a couple of bungalows on a really nice stretch of beach. Hiring two scooters for the time and getting our beach gear out was just what the doctor ordered and we were quite relaxed in no-time.

Saigon welcomed us back into her hectic embrace and the girls found there was plenty of shopping to be done, while the boys checked out the Cu Chi Tunnels and got the "real story" of the Vietnam war.

All up it was a fantatic trip, which everyone enjoyed and Judy and Alan left two exhausted travellers behind as they headed off for a few days in KL, Malaysia. Vietnam was something the both of us were really grateful for.

We then headed back to Singapore to regroup before heading home to Perth for a visit. Enjoy the photos.
