REVIEW:
I am really impressed with the ease of
using the Tiny Personal Firewall. I am also amazed at how effective the program
is in protecting computer systems against unwanted traffic on your computer. I
have a cable modem and feel my system may be more vulnerable to outside,
unwanted activity the regular phone connection. I feel safe that all my files
and computer applications are completely protected by this great firewall.
The features of this firewall include:
Intrusion detection. This is a very easy to use wizard that detects unknown
activity and prompts for setup information. When the setup is finished, it will
apply a new rule to the filtered rules list.
The application filter protests against
unauthorized applications that try to enter through an open or dormant port.
The firewall will create a filter rule stemming from the users input. The
firewall sets up a file for regularly used applications that use known ports so
it can tell the difference between unauthorized applications and known ones.
You can set up filtering rules to be
applied to trusted address. You, the user, define these rules. You have the
option of setting up your filtered rules to activate at certain time periods.
I have tried other firewalls in the past. I
recently had a free firewall downloaded. I had a friend check to see how easily
he could get through it while chatting with him on ICQ. He told me my ISP
address in a matter of a couple of minutes. I can say that he could not do the
same with the Tiny Personal Firewall!!!
I would definitely recommend this firewall
application to everyone, especially users of cable modem. I feel that this
program is not only easy to use, but very effective in protecting your
computer, whether it be just one or a whole network. I am not the only one that
thinks so highly of this firewall because it has been awarded a contract by the
U.S. Air Force to protect 500,000n desktop computers!
