| Tess was in the kitchen alone and the girls were almost done, ready to finish work. On one of the units, she found what she was looking for. It was Kyle's car keys. For whatever reason, she stole them from their previous location. It was unsure whose side she was on, and what her motives were. "OK guys, well, I'm outta here, see you at school tomorrow." "Drive safely Maria." Liz advised. "Nice meeting you Tess." "The pleasure was all mine." And soon after that sentence, Maria had gone. "Are you almost done yet?" "One sec, there's just one more thing I have to do." And with that, Tess replaced Kyle's car keys, in the spot that Maria had left them earlier on. Seconds later, she was also gone. Liz didn't have long before her arranged meeting with Max and the others, but she needed a shower. Liz always put hygiene before most things and since she'd been in school all day, and then had to work without much of a break in-between, there was no way she was going to resist a shower now. After her shower, Liz put her pajamas on, slightly forgetting that she was having visitors when she chose to. Not even a minute had passed after her shower and she noticed Max and the others standing on the rooftop balcony, exclusive to her bedroom. She slide open the door and felt the warm night air of Roswell brush against her still-wet hair. "I won't ask how you got up here." "We climbed." Michael informed her. "We can't fly Liz." Max added. "Please, sit down…and we can talk." Liz gestured her hands to the table and chairs there, on her balcony. "We might as well…this isn't exactly going to be a simple visit." And with Isabel's comment, they all sat. Meanwhile, outside, unbeknownst to them, something completely different was happening. "Look, Kyle, it's no big deal OK, no problem…we're just gonna go inside, get your keys, dilemma solved, so would you just let it go?" "Yeah well, you still shouldn't have forgotten my keys, you know I've been looking forward to that paint job for a while." "Kyle, we're about five minutes away from getting your stupid keys, so that you can go pick up your stupid car and see your stupid paint job so would you kindly please shut up!" "OK…damn…tell me how you really feel why doncha?" Moments later Maria had opened the utility door that she had keys to, in order to get into the kitchen of The Crashdown. It was dark, and she couldn't turn on the lights because if she did, the alarm would be set off. "How are gonna find anything in here when we can't see a damn thing huh?" "Oh my God, can you be any more a pain in my ass? I'll get your keys OK…but it'd help if we had a little less complaining from you." On the balcony, the conversation was escalating. "Look you guys, Max has probably told you everything that's gone on with me. I can only imagine how exposed that makes you feel…how unsettling that is. Whatever you're feeling right now, I want you to try to look past it so that you can see I am speaking the truth when I say…your secret is safe with me…I'd guard it with my own life. That must sound strange coming from me, when you hardly know me…but I do mean it, and I think you know that much." "This doesn't make you one of us…it doesn't matter what Maxwell says…the only people we care about are ourselves…we're alone in this. You know about us…but if what you've just said is true, then we can all go our separate ways in peace. But if you become a threat, I won't take it lightly." "Michael, are you hearing yourself? You sound like an animal, the kind of animal the world would treat us as if they knew about us. Can't you see, she is as scared as the rest of us. And Max was right, we can trust her, I mean for God's sake, look at her, listen to her. She's kept her word to Max and secured our safety…that makes her one of us Michael, however hard this is for us to deal with, whatever we're feeling." |
