Message of Governor Kit to the District Egroup Members after the sportsfest.-Sept 24,2002
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
Thank you for your attendance at the District Sporsfest in Mindoro the other day. Your presence made the affair a successful one.
Thanks to the Rotary Club of Calapan, the hosts club. Your hospitality and efficient organization of the district affair was really marvelous.Congratulations to P. Bogs and Chairman Odie! You and your club made a memorable event happen. Give our gratitude to the city government through PP Arnan for the good performance of their cultural groups and support to our Sportsfest. Tell him most of the Rotarians are coming back soon with their families and friends. I would be going back
too with lots of tourist with me.
Thank you Assistant Governors! It's heartwarming to see you there with your team. I really appreciate the efforts and moral support you have given to the district.
Thank you Past District Governors! Your presence adds prestige to the Sportsfest. PDG Chito, your vision worked. If not for your innovative idea we would not have done the Sportfest in Mindoro. Keep your ideas coming. PDG Paeng, your popularity added an exotic spice to the affair. We would probably raise more Paul Harris contributions soon. IPDG Jim and RS Sylvia, your presence assured everyone of the beauty and safety of the travel. You were the only one who brought the whole family.
Thank you Loving District Officers! It was really great to see you there. I am grateful for your intent to give moral support and be counted.
Thank you Loving Presidents! Your presence is very inspiring. Your presence inspires your governor to serve. Your presence is a proof of your willingness to join the district in its many district affair even if it mean crossing the ocean just to watch a game in the heat.
As we go back to our club, let us talk to our members and tell them of our experience. Tell them of the fellowship you had; the good food you ate; the smooth ride in the Supercat; the warm welcome at the pier; the beauty of the beach and the ocean; the friendly Rotarians of R.C. Calapan; the efficient organization of the Sportsfest; the hardworking Rotarians of R.C. Calapan,
serving beyond the call of duties, the reasonably priced souvenirs and foodstuff you took home including the exotic durian fruit; and the many experiences you shared with your fellow Rotarians.
Having told all these to your club, invite all of them to join you in the many succeeding district and international affairs. Invite them to come to theTRF Golf Tournament at Malarayat Golf and Country Club; to the RCC Seminar, hosted by the R.C. Lucena on Oct 5, at Queen Margaret's Hotel at Lucena, to the Zone Institute in Oct 25-27 at Westin Phil. Plaza.
Thank you! See you soon!
Yours in Rotary,
DG Kit Reventar

The rotary club of Calapan would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all those who attended and who in one way or another contributed to the success of the recently concluded di9strict Sportsfest and our 50th anniversary.
Without your attendance and presence the affair would not have been as successful as it was. Again, we would like to thank all of you, most specially DG Kit, all the PDG's who came and the AG's who brought their members to Mindoro.
We hope to see you again in Mindoro.

A Blow by Blow recount of a Happy participant to her club mates who were not able to join the trip/Sportsfest.
While I am writing this, I still cannot remove the smile on my lips as I remember the escapades we had in Calapan... there was no dull moment, it was a real fellowship, it was very worthwhile and super FUN-FILLED!!! The Team was completed with Dir. Nene, CP Rey, Pres. Allan, Rashel, Vilma, and Aud. Arnold.
It was 3:30 PM last Friday, the weather's joyful with a little shower blessing us with luck and safety, we met at Dir. Nene's residence to board the Van courtesy of Vilma (Allan's client at S.R.E and Nene's neighbor to be) to bring us to Batangas Port.
All the way from San Lorenzo, the going was smooth and filled with laughter. Pres. Allan (sino pa?) and his boisterous buwahahahahahaha joined by Auditor Arnold's loud and cheery laugh made our 2-hour trip seem like a 15 mins. joker's time! Pres. Allan (as ever) assumingly fronted as "papa" to our driver Rommel who's getting married soon. "Pres. Sorry ha, sa laki
mo pati tiyan mo di talaga bagay girlash image sa yo! Hindi mo maitatago...bato ka! at .....pang hunks at pang macho men ka lang...uuuuyyyyyyy gustong gusto naman... feeling POGI!
We arrived at the port at about 5pm. We bought our tickets below a very big banner of "Rotary District Sportsfest in Calapan!" tickets are 50% off (Yan ang Rotarian Freebee). Our boat leaves 6:30PM so it's still early. We roamed around the port, we had an early dinner at one of the street point-point (turo-turo) there. Even there, we couldn't eat with CP Rey and Pres. Allan's teasing on the young waitress. Quoting to Pres. Allan... "Bro, grabe pala ka-hospitable mga tao dito, kahit saan ka pumunta papakainin ka!" commenting on the 3 ladies from diff. turo-turo after sayin..."sir, dito kayo kumain!" he he he
On we go! We boarded the Supercat, 6 of us sitting far from each other hoping to sit with a cutie passenger...but to no avail! we're left with each other because there was not so many passenger at that time. The trip was not so trivial, we were amused with the Supercat TV ad on safety measures inside the boat. How to put on the life vest, where to get it, where to exit, where to board the raft etc... we slept!
At exactly 7:15 PM (45 mins from batangas) we were at Calapan Port. Upon boarding off the boat, we were amazed by a group of people on the gate like trying to locate someone from the passengers. When we got near , whoa! They are a little less than 15 guys and all rotarians! it's the welcome party! PP Egay, Pres. Bogs, Dr. RJ and the rest gave us a welcome grip and a
little tit-a-tat about the trip. They are expecting 12 of us that's why all of them brought their cars to accomodate us. We were only six enough to be accomodated with AG Ben's Resort Service on convoy with PP Egay's car.
Upon arrival, we accustomed ourselves on the cottage assigned to us. A 2-room cottage with separate doors, aircon, located 10 steps from the beach, each room good for 4 with a very exotic site of the the beach, lighted fisher boats on the waters and an island where we planned to go on Sunday. Wow! Seem like paradise! The night was young so we hop on our swim suites and bathe at the warm beach waters of Parang. We opened a Tiquila and tossed for success. THERE WE STARTED A BIG WEEKEND. The rain came pouring, so we continued the drinking spree at the cottage with the New Wave beat. Oh boy, it was 3 AM when we finally decided to call it a night!
A sumptous breakfast ordered by the ealiest riser (CP Rey ...sino pa) woke us up. We got dress up with our red shirts after the breakfast got prepared for the Sportsfest. This time the troupe from RC Calamba (led by DS Kim and DS Andy and Pres Cathy), RC San Pedro (led by PDS Rudy, PDG Jim, Rtn Sylvia) just arrived and are checking in. At 8:30AM, we were all ferried to
"J-J" school gymnasium. The Red Team ofcourse have the highest attendance!
The Sportsfest began.......
The six of us all have events to join and the results are.....
Pres. Allan - Pres. Walkaton and Billiards
He did not make it to the Walkaton bec. he already left for the Billiards...time conflict. Pres made it to the semi's in Billiards.
CP Rey and Aud. Arnold - joined the 3-point shoot out and won the 2nd place!
Dir. Nene - joined the Secretary's Walkaton and won the ladies event. (it shows Ne... panglakad talaga tayo)
Vilma - joined the Free Kick and won third place. She also joined me in the obstacle course and we got 3rd place again.
Rtn. Rashel - Table Tennis and Obstacle Course
I had a little squabble with the Rtn. in charge in Table Tennis bec. There was no ladies division. After a little feministic attack..."Rotary is gender sensitive and it's not just for guys but also for women!", I and another lady Rtn from Calapan South left disappointed! Fortunately, after lunch AG Conrad came rushing to get me and play. They surely got the message...I was thinking! My feministic mind is again boosted! he he he Siyempre, unbeatable tayo so we again took home a Gold for Table Tennis!
The Obstacle Course (3rd place with teammates AG Conrad, Pres. Oca of San Pedro (he made our team really laugh), Vilma, Dennis (who fainted after the game and rushed to the infirmary), and me)
Lunch was good, especially with Rtn./Mayor of Calapan eating on our table together with PDG Paeng! The rest of the afternoon was spent walking around the town and home back to the resort. We had a great time picture taking on the beach, screaming with laughter, jumping like jack on the click of the timed camera! I can imagine CP and Pres posing as B1 and B2 with their shorts high waisted infront of the camera! At 7 pm, we prepared for RC Calapan's 5oth anniversary at Microtel Inn.
What happened during the RC Calapan Anniversary....... what was memorable.... it was amusing for it was in their club where we saw 3 3rd generation rotarians (the Mayor himself and 2 others) Rashel met her former Copra Supplier Rtn. Oscar Ng Tsai who was an awardee for being in servicer for 36 years...whew! and Wow, what a small world! Our table was star Studded. PDG's and governatoriables sits at our table (sikat eh!)
We were one of the three tables with a bottle of liquor! Lakas ni CP Rey! Everyone drops by at our table for a shot!
After the anniversary, we went back to Parang beach resort had a good time! We ladies don't know what the guys are planning. We ladies (Sylvia hao, Lita Magsino, Edith, Cathy, Nene, Vilma and I) really wanted to sing. So we asked PDG Jim to let AG Ben's attendants to set up the Viseo-k (12 midnight)! The guys joined us anyway and we sang through the night til
dawn. We are 14 RS and Rotarians from different clubs! Fun fun fun fellowship! The fun stopped with the dropping of our eyelids at 4am.
Sunday Morning! Our last day! We bought fresh tamban fish and roasted them. Delicious breakfast! After that, we rented a boat and rode to the other island bringing with us the excess fish. the Calamba Rotarians were there first led by DS Andy Tilman swimming under the sun! They left early so our group stayed until lunch! We found a cave crossing the island. We also saw a lot of cats roaming around... the cats probably were prisoners outcast like those in THE ROCK! We swam, sun bathe, ate, and took pictures! After that, we boarded the boat going back to Calapan.
During the boat ride, the boat motor overheated in the middle of the sea...hu hu hu! After 5-minutes of rest and trying to let the motor get going... the boat man decided we paddle the boat! It was however not possible bec. they have only 1 paddle !! We started praying.... then asking if there are whales in the area... how are we gonna reach the island? ... Another minute or so, the boat started to run! Thanks God! We reached the main island safe and sound! Tired, we rested for a while and got dressed up!
At 2:30 PM we rode to the port and boarded at 3:30 PM. We arrived in San Lorenzo at 8 PM. And here we are back to the normal weekday!
It was a very memorable weekend getaway, with the challenge of Goc. Kit to reach 50 years like RC Calapan! If you were there with us, it could have been more beautiful and more excitting! You missed all the fun we had, anyway there will still be another time!
Still with sunburn,
