Hello, My name is Allen 'Skip' Roth. I've just finished writing an approximately 270 page book, and I'm searching for a publisher. Below is a short synopsis of my work. A 22 minute documentary is being shot at this time that can be included with any finished work. Chainsaw's Justice: (working title) This book is a first person recollection of Allen 'Skip' Roth’s life altering experiences following the events of Father’s Day, 1995. The background details the months prior to Father’s Day 1995. Skip and Chris Roth’s rise to fame as internationally renowned chainsaw artists and their ability to attract media attention in the years before July 18, 1995 includes their being featured in People Magazine, Golf Digest ( even though neither play golf) hundred’s of featured newspaper articles including front page photos, and in Our State Magazine ( North Carolina), and over 60 television interviews such as The Crook and Chase Show ( 25 minutes of air time on this show) the latest featured television interview was Friday April 30, of this year. The slow recognition of Mr. Roths' talents are crucial to the play of events. I left South Florida in the late 1970's to avoid the growing violence. However,I inadvendantly moved my family to a neighborhood with a serial child molestor. Max Gilliam, a local 'Boss Hog' ( the story takes place in rural Appalachian North Carolina), had a penchant for pre-teen (tweenie) boys. He took an interest in my oldest son, Timothy, who was 11 when I made my move from Florida. Gilliam soon found a way to molest my son, making myself and him on un-neighborly terms for the majority of my life in North Carolina. We fought over the roadway that went past the driveway to my house, ending up in court in the middle 80's with a finding in my favor and a restraining order against Gilliam. After years had gone by (due in part to the efforts of I and my wife to see him convicted of being a child molestor and trying to stop him from molesting other young boys), he and I ended up in a gunfight that Gilliam lost. Gilliam attacked me and my family, and I shot him to protect my son, my nephew, and myself. Gilliam was (we found out at trial), at the time of the gunfight; a) breaking a court's restraining order, b) had been up most, if not all, of the night before, c) drunk with almost 1 1/2 times the legal amount of alcohol in his blood, according to the autopsy report. We believe that he attacked us to prevent his exposure to the media as a serial child molestor. I ended up being wrongfully charged, and convicted of, second degree murder. The trial of Skip Roth deals with the corrupt legal system of Western North Carolina, and the crooked lawyers involved in obtaining Skip Roth’s wrongful conviction for 2nd degree Murder. A case is laid out as to how and why they did it, and how those same lawyers profited from that wrongful conviction. It details how one attorney has used the defense of malpractice liabilty statute limits to keep 60 plus acres of forested, watered mountain land. The main part of the book deals with life inside the North Carolina Maximum Security Department of Corrections. Vivid descriptions of the harsh living conditions, and the constant struggle of the criminal underclass. I had an 'up' most of the people in the prision system do not have - I was innocent, and everyone knew it; the guards, the administration, and especially the other prisoners. My experiences in prison are unique due to my status as a killer of a serial child molestor. I was privy to information and facts not available to those who steal TVs from their grandmothers to sell for crack, and I detail things not known by people on the 'outside'. Sometimes, I have to leave out names to keep people still in the DOC system from being harmed or killed, but the stories are all true. It was 30 months until my eventual release from prison by a unanimous decision of The North Carolina Appellate Court. The prison years relate the 1,000 days spent in four North Carolina maximum security prisons. These are the stories of different the chain-gang guards and their administrative bosses, inmates, and convicts that I interacted with while in the various prisons (as in the story of Mr. Roache- who murdered a family of five in cold blood after his release from prison, and who was recently put to death by North Carolina for his crimes.). This book also takes a hard look at the racism and the gangs in our prisons. The ending describes the ongoing present day success of Skip and Chris Roth’s art; including their public art commissions and Chris’ starring in a television commercial advertising McDowell County, which once snubbed my family for my shooting of the child molestor. To recap; one dead pedophile, chainsaws, art and artists, a Wild West-type gunfight, prison stories (including prison rape and prison sex), crooked lawyers (one of whom is now dead), the interruption of the American dream, and fame and fortune. This book can include original paintings by me to help illustrate the story. These original paintings are posted on pages linked from www.rothart.com Sincerely, Skip Roth (828) 652 1253 425 Finley Rd. Marion N.C. 28752
