                 My Goal As A Consultant

I have well maintained equipment that is ready to go to work for someone else. I have a computer full of data and notes on how to use equipment to make profits. I would enjoy the opportunity to help a client with the smartest approach to building a profitable business quickly.

My Background

I have been self emplyed since grade school. In 1985 I loaned a considerable sum to a "restauranteur" to start a franchise. By 1986, I was 41 and broke for the first time since I was 10! By 1987, with no operating capitol beyond the client deposits, I had turned the business into Catering, and was making a profit. In 1988 I started planning events and supplying everything but the guests. Also that year, I engineered contracts to cooperate with restaurants to manage their On-Premise "banquets" and put my smoked meats on their menus. In 1988 I made the Top 20 List, the next year the Top 10 List, and then I finally got smart. From that point on I studied my own business for ways to lessen the hassles and increase profits. From that point on, the business got easier and better until I sold it in 1998.

My Business

In 1985 I "invested" in a fleet of Southern Pride Smokehouses. As I learned what these fine machines were capable of, I developed methods and recipes for Brisket, Ribs, Chicken, Turkey, Salmon, etc., that kept business coming back. At the center of each event was fine smoked meats, sauced and finished over open pits at the event. The quality of the food and the extensive services available allowed me to keep my prices above most of the competition. I built quality repeat business by organizing food, entertainment, rentals, deco, and myriad details under one contract and one insurance umbrella.
