"Evie" was origionally sold as a show prospect puppy to someone in Texas.  For reasons we won't get into here, the person Evie resided with never got her out to do the things she was supposed to do. Evie came back to me at nearly 3 years of age.  Sadly unsocialized and in less than ideal physical condition. We have put a lot of work into this girl since coming back to Black Ives and she is really coming around. Less than 2 months after her return, she acheived her Int'l Championship with a Best of Breed over specials! We were thrilled to have her do so well so soon after coming back to us.   She is a lovely dog who deserved much better than she got for nearly the first 3 years of her life.   She is becoming well adapted to the big outside world and although her former owner insisted that Evie was suffering bilateral ACL ruptures, two visits with specialists at UC Davis have determined that this was also not true.

Apparently this was just a guise by the former owner to avoid doing the things that were asked of her.   This is one of those times where the person knew just what to say and managed to get through my screening process.   Sadly, this person ended up with TWO dogs from me.  Evie was one and her half brother "Raider," the other.  "Raider" is ALSO home with us where he belongs and I thank GOD that I have been able to bring both dogs back into trustworthy social animals.

I want to thank Andi and Stuart Zykorie for helping me to get both of these kids back here safe and sound.  I would also like to thank Marya for her help in getting these guys back to California.  I don't know what we would have done without you all!!!  THANK YOU!!!!!!

FLASH!!! Update January, 2004 Can you think of a dog less likely to have the confidence to do the protection phase of Schutzhund? That dog, it seems, is NOT Ms. Evie!!!!!  Ms. Evie impressed everybody who knew her earlier misfortune (including our helper!) by moving to a sleeve for her THIRD session!!!  Session FOUR included some real "fight" from the helper!!! That my friends, is the difference between good "wiring" and bad "wiring"  Evie started out with the good wiring and she has proved time and again she hasn't lost it in SPITE of the first 3 years of her life!!!!! What a Rottweiler SHOULD be.  Evie has reminded each and every one of us what that REALLY means!!!!!
