My mother always told me that if I met up with someone with the name Roudebush, that we were related because there is one common origin of our family.  I have found that the name has been spelled many different ways, but I have found her to be correct. Most of the Roudebush, Roudabush, Raudenbusch, Ruebush,  and Rubush families in the United States all came from one common ancestor, Hans Peter Raudenbusch.
One of 19 Steinsfurt, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany citizens who lived through the 30 Years War (1618-1648) which was the last of the great religious wars of Europe. Over 1/2 of the population of Germany died during this war.

This conflict was really a series of wars.  It began as a civil war between the Protestants and Roman Catholics in the German States.  The two groups disagreed in their interpretation of the peace of Augsburg (1555), which had been intended as a settlement of the religious question in Germany.  In addition, the peace of Augsburg had recognized only Catholics and Lutherans.  There were many Calvinists in southern and central Germany and they also demanded recognition.

Hans Peter Raudenbusch was born around 1600. He was a Miller and also the Courtier of Steinsfurt, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.  The Kurphaz Government paid homage to him after the Thirty Years War by giving him the flour mill. Hans Peter died Oct. 17, 1657 in Reihen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.

- Hans Raudenbusch  born about 1627, in Steinsfurt, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.  It lists his wife as Anna Stark, (she is also listed as wife to Hans Peter in some records) born about 1635.  The couple were married June 12, 1655 in Steinsfurt, Neckar Valley, Badenwurttemberg, Germany. (I believe all sons had the first name of Hans and more research will have to be done.)
