| About DeMolay |
| The Order of DeMolay was founded in Kansas City in 1919. The idea for a young men's group was originated by Frank S. Land, and he soon found nine young men that shared his dream of a organization. Those nine young men decided that their organization would be called "DeMolay", and is named after Jacques DeMolay, the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar. (The Knights Templar served the Roman Catholic Church during the Crusades and were known for their bravery and heroism.) With Jacques DeMolay's name as a starting point, the Order of DeMolay came to be an organization that teaches cooperation, responsibility, leadership skills, loyalty, and brotherhood. |

| DeMolay Activities |
| Although, to some, the purpose of DeMolay may seem a bit dull, the various activities that each Chapter participates in are quite the opposite. If you join DeMolay, (Or become involved in some other way), be prepared to travel all over your state, (sometimes even outside of it), to visit with the other Chapters and attend events. Here are some of the events that DeMolay Chapters participate in, (the following activities are merely a few things that DeMolay Chapters do... the list can go on and on.) - Dances - Softball - Basketball - Bowling - Movie Nights - Chess - Card Games Remember, each DeMolay Chapter's fun events can change with the hobbies and interests of its members. The fun events also change with each state... State events are a lot of fun and give you a chance to meet other members of DeMolay from around your state. These events vary a lot but can include the activity ideas listed above. The money for these events can come from the Chapter, and that money is raised by various fundraisers such as car washes, dinners, lunches, breakfasts, etc. These fundraisers can be a little bit of work but, with your DeMolay friends working beside you, they can also be a lot of fun! |
