Why is the rainbow round? When the atmosphere is thick with billions, and billions of tiny round water droplets, the water droplets act like the combined concave and covex lens contained within a magnifying glass.The light of the sun is reflected within the lense, (water droplets), and appears within the lense, (water droplets) out of what appears to be nowhere as a small circle of colour. As the earth turns toward the east, the circle of colours within the lense, (water droplets) gets larger and larger, and while the center of the circle is not visible, a large arch of colours are seen within the clouds, (air). We do not see the full circle of colours in the air, because the atmosphere that is wrapped around the circular earth, is blocked from the light of the sun by the dome, of the earth.
