.Stuck//inRO
: Lexington 01 and Camille 01
Notes/Warnings: Since I'm terrible at sticking to one character's POV without making them corny or Mary/Gary, I'll just continue the story through several points of view. Sorry! PS: I'm either 777 or under the age of drinking, so don't assume anything particular from what's written...X_X

~Discovering a weirdo. (Lexington: 01)~
Lexington had never lied about his age. Whenever someone would ask, he would respond quickly, "25", and remind himself that he was still young and unknowledgeable of the world. Heck, even in the one year he'd been living with a roommate who happened to be a chef, he'd still not learned how to cook.
"Screw this!" he noted aloud at the microwave, and pressed the stop button on it while it had 25 seconds to go. He opened its door impatiently and took out the heated pizza slice within. Seeing how he hadn't bothered to place a plate below it when it was microwaved, he simply began eating the slice and carrying a napkin on the way back to his computer.
He'd positioned his level 46 novice named "Lex" in a desolate corner of Morroc, in hopes that it wouldn't be attacked by summoned monsters. Casually looking at the screen as he sat down and finished the pizza slice, Lexington grinned slightly seeing that it was in its previous state, sitting and at full health.
When finished with the food, he wiped his hands and mouth with the napkin, and looked at the screen, ready to have his novice walk through and outside Morroc. It was as he was about to press the insert key, though, that another novice appeared in the Lex's exact position.
"Where am I?" a character sprite named GiveMeMyName asked in the chat box. Her head was directly above Lexington's novice's. A question mark appeared over GiveMeMyName's head, quickly followed by an exclamation mark.
"Oh my crap! I'm stuck in someone's body!" GiveMeMyName said, still holding the exclamation mark.
Lexington laughed, and decided GiveMeMyName was a newbie, quickly pressing the insert key, and moving Lex a few steps away. "It's okay, Give. You're new to RO, right?"
The character sprite named GiveMeMyName didn't respond for awhile. Finally, she said in all caps, "FUDGE! I CAN'T CURSE!" with several dark clouds over her.
"Yeah, this game has censors."
"GAME?" was followed in another line by "GAME??", and followed in another line by "GAME???" A sweatdrop appeared afterward over Lex.
GiveMeMyName walked to barely a step from Lex, and turned towards him. "What sort of game IS this? We're both in this place!" Suddenly, a sweatdrop appeared over her. "Crap! You're not human yourself!"
Staring at the screen, Lexington raised a brow, then typed into the keyboard. "What are you talking about?" Lex asked, replied to with "Your face! It hasn't changed at all!"
"Give, this is Ragnarok Online. An MMORPG. They haven't implemented facial expressions, which is why there are emotion signs over our heads."
"Oh, God, no," GiveMeMyName said, then continued, "And my name is MARY, get it? Mary!!!"
"Lexington, here. Is there something wrong, Mary?" Lex asked with a question mark overhead. The female novice suddenly had sob signs overhead. "Mary?"
"I'm not playing this game, Lexington. I'm in this game!" Mary exclaimed, then continued, "There's no computer in sight near me!"
At his seat, Lexington slouched a moment, then laughed as he looked at the screen. "Lol." Mary replied in less than a second with "I'm serious!"
"Darn, Mary. What's you typing speed?"
Dark clouds appeared over Mary's head. "I'm not typing anything, you dork! I'm REALLY talking!"
"Lol. Well, I have to pick up some pots. See you around, Mary," Lex said, then started to walk away. What Lexington noticed was that on-screen, Mary was following, strangely pausing at times for a moment. When he noticed that GiveMeMyName was almost out of his screen, he stopped his novice, and turned towards the other. "Lag?"
"Damn you!" Mary shouted, quickly adding, "I'm out of...breath!" Lexington laughed, then typed, "I think I get it. You're a roleplayer, aren't you?"
"Just what the f...fudge are you...no, I'm...not!" Mary replied while GiveMeMyName walked up to and next to Lex. "Give me a few moments...to catch some air..., will ya?"
A thumbs up sign appeared over Lex. "I see, your slang for lag, I guess. But, if it's really messing up your game, you should try restarting your computer." To that, Mary sweatdropped. "You still don't believe me, do you?"
"Ah, I'm bad at being in-character. Can't we just speak OOC for awhile?" Lex asked. GiveMeMyName replied, "Fudge! You just don't get it!" and began to walk off out of the screen in a high speed, which surprised Lexington, since he thought she had had lag.
Instead of trying to follow her, he whispered GiveMeMyName with "Where'd you go?" A few moments afterwards, he received a reply "?", shortly followed by "I get it now!", quickly followed by, "I CAN WHISPER YOU!!!", rapidly followed by, "Lexington, you hear me, right???" Lex sweatdropped.
"Just how fast does she type?!" Lexington thought aloud, staring at the monitor. Finally, Lex formed a reply. "Come back. I promise I'll be in character this time." What Lexington suddenly noticed was that GiveMeMyName was already walking towards Lex onscreen. "You just don't get it," GiveMeMyName said, then continued, "Nevermind. Anyhow, where are we...in this game?"
"Morroc, the desert city," Lex noted, answered by GiveMeMyName with, "Figures. My shirt is filthy with dust already."
Lex replied awhile afterwards with, "Lol. Listen, do you need help levelling up?" A question mark immediately appeared over GiveMeMyName's head, causing Lexington to sigh. "I mean, do you need help fighting the monsters in the desert?"
"M...mo...monsters?" Mary asked. Lexington's novice replied, "Yeah." GiveMeMyName sweatdropped, then noted, "Fighting monsters in an online game. Gah. Why couldn't there be cuter, more fun things?"
"Ha. Follow me, Mary. Maybe seeing porings will change your mind." Lex also added, "We can walk pause a bit sometimes, to catch our breaths."
~The knight held a heroic stance after finishing off...a poring. (Camille: 01)~
Somewhere in Prontera fields just south of the city was an acolyte named Camille, turning towards two approaching characters, a mage named Reed and merchant named Tara. With a music sign above her head, she welcomed the two with the words, "Hi, guys."
Tara replied with a victory sign and noted, "Hello, Camille. Thank God-Poing that you can see party member's dots on the map." Reed answered, "Yeah," and sat down in between Tara and Camille.
"So, how's levelling?" Camille asked. Tara noted, "Okay," while Reed said, "It's getting slow. I'm at my last 5 job levels."
Reed continued, "Poison spores still get me." Camille and Tara said words that would be the equivalent of a nod in response.
An exclamation sign appeared over Tara's head immediately soon afterwards. "Did you just sees that? In the SE!" She stood up and walked towards the southeast corner of the screen.
"What is it?" Camille asked, following Tara, and was followed by Reed, who said, "I think so!"
Reed, Camille, and Tara walked further SE until they clearly saw a large mob of roda frogs, lunatics, chonchons, fabres, and porings gathered around and whacking at a headgear-less Knight, who had just stopped walking.
The knight, identified as Joe, quickly said, "Let's see...I can fight, obviously, but will my skills work?" He then turned, still being mobbed, towards the onlookers with a question sign. "Care to see me in action?"
Tara had a silence dots sign overhead, Reed replied with "Sure", and Camille said, "Okay." To that, Joe responded with a victory sign, and shouted in the chat box "Here comes Bash!"
Above the knight was a message called "Bash", while a light appeared, clearing out a roda frog in an instant. After a moment, a laugh sign appeared over the knight's head.
"Success! Hahahahahaha! I'm REALLY a KNIGHT!" To that, a question sign appeared over Camille's head as she asked, "Did you just become one?" Around the same time, Reed asked, "Didn't you already have bash?"
"Yeah, today. And, yeah," Joe replied, still holding the laugh sign, and finishing off the rest of the monsters with bash. "This is just the first time I've used the skill in real life. Hahahaha."
Tara held silence dots, while Reed and Camille had question marks. Camille asked after awhile, while Joe proceeded to take down the rest of the monsters, "Um, anyhow, isn't that overkill?" Tara noted, "Yes..." while Reed noted, "Yeah."
An o sign appeard over Joe's head after he finished off the last monster with bash. "You see me nodding my head this very instant right?" Tara replied, "No," while Camille said, "You can't nod in RO."
A silence dots sign appeared over Joe as he took a step towards the onlookers. "Darn. Then you do you see me doing this?" Nothing new appeared onscreen for a moment, until Reed asked, "See what?"
"Darn! Can't you see me adjusting my hair? Oh, crud!" Joe had a spouting smoke sign overhead, before continuing with, "Man, Midgard's dark tonight." (*cough* Goo Goo Dolls *cough*)
Camille asked, "What do you mean?" while Tara and Reed had silence dots. Reed then turned towards Tara and asked, "Tara, can you give me a discount on boots?" The knight turned towards Camille and drawled, "Aw, shucks. Don't tell me it looks like daylight in your game?"
Tara replied, "Sure. Let's get them now. I have to go soon. Camille, you coming?" Joe quickly responded with, "Wait! I need a bit of help."
After a moment, Reed said, "We'll just use party chat, Camille," and walked north out of the screen, followed by Tara, who quickly noted before leaving, "Right."
"So, um, what's up?" Camille asked with a question mark, responded to with silence dots. "You don't see me waving my hands, do you?" Joe replied.
Camille had another question mark, followed shortly by silence dots, leaving Joe to later note, "I guess nothing's changed for the players."
A sweatdrop appeared over Camille. "There haven't been any new patches with waving hands, I don't think." A laugh sign was above Joe quickly afterwards. "Hahaha. Yeah."
A moment of silence in laugh signs was exchanged between the two before Joe spoke. "Listen, I'm sorry about confusing you. It's just, that...would you believe me if I told you that..."
"...That?"
"What if someone said they were stuck in a a game...physically?"
A music sign appeared over Camille's head, followed by the question, "I get it. You're a Hack fan, aren't you?"
Joe had a dumbfounded question mark sign over his head. "What's Hack?" Camille replied, "An anime," responded to by the knight with a poring smile sign and the words, "Never heard of, sorry."
"Oh."
An exclamation mark sudddenly appeared over Joe's head. "Mary!" he said, to which Camille asked, "Who?"
"My sister Mary's whispering! It seems she's in RO too..." Joe replied, then held a laugh sign. "What the heck is GiveMeMyName?"
"Um, I'm a bit confused," Camille noted. Another moment of silence was exchanged, until Joe noted, "It seems that Mary aka GiveMeMyName is being helped by a level 46 novice in the desert."
Camille held an exclamation mark, asking, "A supernovice?" Joe replied, "Yeah. That's what I told her he is, just now."
Continuing, Joe asked, "I'm off to Morroc to meet them. Want to come?" Camille answered, "Sure," and they both began trekking through Prontera field towards the city portal.
It was a few steps away from the the city border that Joe suddenly asked, "So, would you believe someone if he said he was?"
"Was what?"
"In an mmorpg?"
"Of course not."
I know, I'm really churning out those crappily written chapters, but hey, it's strangely fun! ^_^ I finally got/made a break from some things and RO to write.
Thanks for the idea about Secret of Mana, a game that TOTALLY owned the SNES, that I played for hours to days on end back then, that I beat 3 times at least, that had a sequel that I also tried out, that...by the way, has anyone played Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2)? I didn't finish it, but it was awesome! It rocked Secret of Mana, and for once was a sequel that progressed just as well as its predecessor...But, I digest (*cough* someone named's Dan's version of digress *cough*).
I still don't have the POV thing down. I'm not sure whether it's easier to write/read through Mary and
Joe's points of view, or through other characters.
Ah, some apologies: Sorry for the lack of...description in this story. I know it can be a major pain having to read the words "said," and "answered," repeatedly, ad nausea. Plus, to the makers of .Hack//sign for this story: Please don't sue, and I WILL watch your series someday!!!
Blatant Spam: I WILL write the next chapter to AST's 3 Weddings and a Funeral really soon. Plus, someone somewhere voted (YEAH! FINALLY, A VOTE!!!) for tragedy in the story. I'm really down with that, but I'm not too keen on having EVERYONE not marry. Aw, well, hope you read it sometime.
So, now that you've read down to this far into the page, have any flames/comments/suggestions?
