I posted the following message on an AOL message board on the Iraq War.
(The original message was in bright pink):
WAR... WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?

What
is war good for?
That is a question several people are asking themselves. Not only about the Iraq War... but about war in general.
War has been going on since human kind first existed... actually, even before humankind existed.
War is a basic animal behavior. Animals fight for food, mates, and land, and, overall, power.
Humans, throughout history, did pretty much the same thing.
Some people wonder why, with all the brain we humans posses, we still engage in this barbaric custom.
Let's see just why animals do.
In the animal kingdom, 'war' starts when one animal attacks the other.
The other animal must fight back, or be killed.
Humans, with all the brain we have, still have this bully animal among us.
Not only Saddam... this bully is everywhere...
the school yard, the sandbox, your neighborhood.
We can't tell these bullies 'war is bad', because they really couldn't care any less.
We must fight back against such bullies... you can't just 'ignore them and they'll go away'.
The war against Saddam isn't just about oil.
We're also not fighting to 'save the poor Iraqi citizens'. If we wanted to do this, we would've done it long ago. But you know what they say... the cat will jump if the dog chases it.
We're fighting this war for the same reason we fought in World War II...
because Saddam here is the 'dog', and we're the 'cat' (no offense to dog lovers... I myself have a pet dog).
If we don't stop Saddam, chances are he'll just kill more people, and become an even bigger threat to democracy.
Saddam is this generation's Hitler.
He's the bully animal.
Of course, no war can be fought without loss of life.
It is sad, and even sadder that we have to send our boys and girls there.
But, if we don't fight and sacrifice a few soldiers, even MORE people will die.
Some might say,"Why don't we let the politicians nuke it out? Let Saddam and Bush kill each other."
This sounds all good and dandy, except Saddam probably will show up with reinforcements.
Saddam doesn't play fair.
The UN expects us Americans to keep the UN resolutions, while Saddam tramples all over them with a big, toothy grin.
If he won't play fair, why should we turn the other cheek?
What will it help us if we go down playing fair, and Saddam rules the world?
Just like a school yard bully, we must get rid of this guy.
Not to mention... if we free Iraq, this could help the economy.
Someone needs to help rebuild Iraq.
We'll have a potential market!
But first, we need to get down and dirty, and get rid of the dictator.
This isn't a war against his population.
Those guys you see cheering are forced to cheer or their families will be slaughtered.
Most antiwar protesters are horrified by the idea.
But what they don't see is that the Iraqi citizens are terrorized by Saddam... if someone kicked this dictator out, they'd be free. So, why wouldn't they support a war?
The only downside would be all the dead.
But no war and no freedom comes without a cost... even if it means a few innocents will die.
It's all for Iraq's future.
        Overall, wars will never stop...
unless, of course, humans will cease to exist.
As long as there are bullies, wars and fights will ensue.
In this war, America is doing nothing else than defending itself against a dangerous bully.
