"Wow, Roy is a reallllly good drummer! And Reallly Loud!" |
"Wow, you guys are really good - I kept hearing Syd Barrett all over the place". |
Dad and I listened to the Mometers tape you sent. Those guys are good! The recording sounded high quality. And they must have some sophisticated electronic equipment to produce some of the sounds in there. Dad was particularly amused by the fart sounds in one song. 51 years old and still likes bathroom humor. Anyway, I thought it was a good recording of talented people, varied styles, positive sounding music (which I always like), and somewhat techno, if that's the right word. |
"Very interesting....I was wondering what the fuck it was. Sounds like some heavily ween/drug influenced stuff...makes me wish I still dropped acid. Kind of a cross between Bongwater and Tipsy. Are they on a label, or is this something they did on their own? It's cool." |
Terre T's Cherry Blossom Clinic Thursday, October 26 2000, 3-6pm MOMETERS Terre T. presents the Mometers, a loopy, lovable full rock band with strange synthesizer sounds and a solid sense of songwriting. Kinda like a more serious Bonzo Dog Band. Or early Eno ... if he had a sense of humor. Rhymes with "thermometers". |
"All of you seem perfectly nuts, which is admirable. Band adjectives like: Tight! Speedy! Extraterrestrial! Seem kind of trite. So anyway. You all have such distinctive hair: None, Lots, and Mostly. The guitarist is so backwards, upside down, and shaky. And Sun Studio-voiced, lonely southern evening microphone sound. Bass player: good rock face. Glorious harmonies. (And that one bassline - did you say, "Thanks! That was someone else's song." Or did I hear you wrong?) And nobody is named Roy anymore; it's so cool that your drummer is. If we could all play together again I'd love that." |
I had no idea the song "The Day" (not that I knew the title before getting your CD) was yours. Everytime I heard it on FMU I loved it but I never knew who it was. Wow, awesome. I love that song. Did you guys play it last night? If so, I didn't recognize it. Either distracted or the sound-man sucked. Probably both. |
"I kept making all these various associations: Yes, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Zappa, etc. You incorporated some real great elements without sounding like anyone but yourselves: a difficult feat. Nice slide guitar work, too. You actually made me forget the 20 minute soundcheck! Anyways, the band fuckin' rocked and I wish you much success. Your star is on the rise, baby." |
i had a fuckin' awesome time! maybe too good a time actually. but it was great. you and stubbly rawked and, of course, i LOVE "zimbabwe woman." it's an honor to be asociated with such a fine composition. and i'll bet the "coyote ugly" top looks better on you than on piper pirabo! |
Review of "Nehru Jackets" (from garagebands.com) spacecake!!! tremelo guitar, cool ! Nice double vocals, kinda psychedelic sixtieslike.... Beatifull old synth sounds. Nice break into a sort of old Pink Floyd Syd Barret era kinda thing. Vocals remind me of Gong. I used to listen a lot of these weird bands. This song makes me want to hear more of this band and all the old albums as Camembert Electrique and Piper At the Gates Of Dawn !! Great !!!! |
Another review of "Nehru Jackets" (from garagebands.com) I CANT sing along with you WELL that was definatly different THe melody was too happy for me, as was the mood. I could not get into this song so the arrangement meant nothing to me. Vocals were different..but tell me what was the point of the lyrics? If there was a good thing about this song it had to be the bass. |

Review of "Zimbabwe Woman" (from garagebands.com) What? Way over-produced. Poor lyrics. definetitely not pop/rock. There's no hook. I think this is some "milky chocolate" for the toilet. Special Award: Stupidest Song I've Ever Heard - savetheearth Springfield, Ohio |
