Jewel Knight Chronicles

Jewel Knight Chronicles is a role-playing game campaign setting I ran some time ago, and has been run by others on occasion. Since it’s been enjoyed by the majority of those who've participated in campaigns, I thought I’d post the campaign notes, so that anyone interested could give this unique setting a try.

At its heart, Jewel Knight Chronicles is a Magical-Girl style anime RPG. It is about a group of teenage girls who are recruited to become Jewel Knights: the elite, peacekeeping forces of the Jewel Star Cluster. The Cluster is a very advanced, starfaring civilization enjoying the peace of a glorious golden age. It is a prosperous and wondrous place, inhabited not only by humanity, but also by its off-shoots; the races collectively known as Transhumans. Under the guidance of the Jewel Empress, her Queens, and the Jewel Star Senate, the Jewel Star Cluster knows almost no war or conflict, and is a place of artistic, cultural, and intellectual achievements.

From each of the seven Core Systems, two teenage girls are chosen every three years to receive training at the Imperial Palace, on the planet Sapphire Lio. These fourteen young women will undergo rigorous physical, mental, and spiritual testing; training to see if they are worthy to become Jewel Knights. Of these fourteen, only seven will succeed to form a new Jewel Knight Cluster: seven Knights, working together as one.
