| Commentary on CURRENT EVENTS, July 11, 2006 |
| Any analysis of the endless cycle of killing and destruction continually taking place in Palestine begins and ends with the one-sided foreign policy of the USA towards the Israelis and against the Palestinians! For the past six decades it seems that to the Israelis,' the only good Palestinian is a dead Palestinian ' ! This insensitive policy is reminiscent of the American government policy towards Native American Indians following the War Between the States. Theodore Roosevelt is credited with saying, " I don ' t go so far as to think that the only good Indians are the dead Indians, but I believe nine out of every ten are, and I shouldn ' t like to inquire too closely into the case of the tenth. " Rightly or wrongly, he ' s included on the ' shrine of democracy ' located at Mount Rushmore! Jjust as the American government had a policy of ' genocide ' against Native Americans, so too does the Israeli military junta have a similar policy against Palestinians! And the record is clear in that the Israelis use whatever excuse they can to rain down destruction and death upon the Palestinians using ~ i.e., planes, bombs, rockets, bulldozers and weapons ' made in America ' ! If it were not for USA foreign aid given to the Israelis to the tune of billions of dollars per/year in economic and military war materiel, then political, economic and social peace may have come to Palestine decades ago via a simple ' democratic majority ' in a pluralistic society. But as it now stands, the Israelis have used the one-sided and misguided U.S. foreign aid not only as their ' weapon of war ' against the Palestinians, but also against the American public via their unfair influence upon the U.S. Congress. This foreign influence upon Congress is a direct and proximate result of scores of Israeli PAC ' s (political action committees) established for the purpose of increasing foreign aid each year through what has become known as the ' Zionist Lobby ' ! Thus the more turmoil created and continued, the more U.S. foreign aid is demanded ! Another vicious cycle that hurts everyone but the ruling regime of the Israeli military junta! The whole concept and modern political terminology called ' terrorism ' began when Zionists from the ghettoes of Europe formed into ' gangs ' and fomented a ' guerrilla war ' against the British Mandate of the League of Nations, and then against the Palestinian once the Zionists began squatting in Palestine! Groups like Lehi/Stern, Haganah, and Irgun, for example, committed all kinds of atrocities against the British culminating in the 1946 bombing of the King David Hotel killing British women and children while the British were in preparation for their departure from Palestine. Then these gangs turned against the indigenous citizens of Palestine and for the past six decades have not let up on their 'state sponsored terrorism ' ! Why? Because to the Zionist, "Neither Jewish morality nor Jewish tradition can negate the use of terror as a means of battle! " , (HeKhazit, Issue 2, AUG 1943). Israeli ' terrorist organization ' leaders, like Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Shamir and Ariel Sharon have all gone on to become political leaders of the Israeli junta in the last half century to the present. That is why it is most disingenuous for the Israelis to now degrade and refuse to recognize the political leadership of Hamas after Hamas won a landslide political victory last January in an election declared open and fair by International Observers, both independent and from the United Nations! Thus while the USA claims to promote ' democracy ' and claims to want the ' democratic process ' to replace militarism, when the citizens of a country actually do elect leaders via honest elections, the USA at the behest of the Israelis refuses to recognize or hold diplomatic relations! At its worse, Hamas is being accused of only doing what the Israelis are known to have routinely done! This hypocrisy is not unnoticed by the rest of the world ~ and whatever prestige America once held it is now gone! From its outset, the Israelis became a militarized state in constant war against its neighbors continually supplied by the USA! Yet the Zionist state is the only regime still based on ' Apartheid ' ! And in carrying out its ' ethnic cleansing ' against the Palestinians, the Israeli military junta is the only government to order its military personnel and security agents to kill with impunity non-Israelis; to engage in political assassinations contrary to International Law; to torture them; to engage in economic strangulation; to dispossess them of their land; to demolish their houses and make them homeless; to deny them the support and sympathy of the world; and to employ state-of-the-art warfare technology to kill their dream of a Palestinian Homeland; to deny them their international ' Right of Return '; and to strip them of their humanity! And the worse of it is that all these same barbaric practices have now been adopted by the ' Bush regime ' since its illegal invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq in order to try and corner the Oil Market! Currently the Israelis are screaming because just one of their soldiers is being held as a POW, yet they remain silent as to the over 9800 men, women and children they are holding as ' political hostages ' ~ including over 335 children under 13 years of age! Israeli propaganda claims it ' s under attack by homemade Kassam rockets which have only killed eight Israelis in five years! Meanwhile, Israeli warships have shelled Gaza from the sea with almost 10,000 heavy artillery shells killing scores in just one month! As a direct and proximate result of U.S. supplied warplanes incessantly bombing Gaza, the people of Gaza are now without water and electricity -- and many civilians are dying ! And lest we forget, the use of U.S. planes and other military goods against illegally occupied territories is a violation of both international and U.S. law! Deliberately attacking a civilian population, with the intent of causing maximum suffering, is clearly a crime against humanity! What is being witnessed today in Gaza is ' collective punishment ' against the Palestinian population as a whole! It is just one part of Israel?s colonial policy toward the Palestinians. By the USA continually supplying the Israeli military junta its economic and war materiel, the U.S. is complicit in these WAR CRIMES under International Law! It is time to correct these wrongs! It is time to restore peace! It is time to cut off all foreign aid to the Israelis! A country founded in blood -- built on the backs and the corpses of a group of its indigenous inhabitants -- is badly off-balance and will never recover, if it does not undertake a terrible soul-searching, a flight from violence and lies! There is a stirring, a yearning for peace and relief from violence today, but it is still being mitigated by hatred, denial, greed, and the desire for revenge. When the Israelis learn to police their own lunatic fringe, can avoid offering with one hand what they withdraw with the other, and face the Palestinians with firm honesty, then there will be a chance! But that chance will not come until the USA cuts off all foreign aid to the Israeli warmongers! Take a stand today! Join the only political alternative in America standing up for Truth & Honesty!
