Each year during the holiday season, RSVP Volunteers answer children's letters to Santa.
The letters are received from the local post office. Volunteers read each letter and write a return letter to the child from "Santa's Workshop".
The letters are then sent to North Pole, Alaska, where they are cancelled and mailed back to the children.
This project has been going since 1996, and each year continues to receive more letters.
Volunteers are given special paper and envelopes, and are also given sample responses to guide their letters. Just think how excited a child will be to get a special letter from the North Pole. This project has brightened many a face, and our office has received lots of Thank Yous.
This project begins around Thanksgiving, and continues until the week before Christmas.
Because of the increasing amount of letters, RSVP is always seeking volunteers to help out during the holiday season. Please call us at "Santa's Workshop" aka the RSVP Office at: 541-278-5669. We will be happy to put you to work.
